The Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) leads several initiatives to increase access to care, address healthcare needs, and share best practices for delivering care to underserved populations. The Training Specialist reports to the Director of Workforce Development and serves as an integral part of ACU’s Solutions, Training, and Assistance for Recruitment and Retention (STAR2) Center program—a National Training and Technical Assistance Partner (NTTAP) of the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC).
Responsibilities:
The Training Specialist will contribute to the work of ACU’s STAR2 Center, which provides resources, training, and technical assistance to help Health Center Program grantees with their workforce challenges and questions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Design and deliver in-person and web-based presentations and trainings, in conjunction with the Director and Associate Director of Workforce Development.
Develop and design training and technical assistance resources including publications, self-assessments, podcast episodes, eLearning courses, etc.
Support the development and delivery of workforce training and technical assistance activities, such as the biennial Workforce Symposium and Workshop.
Contribute to the development and timely submission of all STAR2 Center federal reporting requirements to support the STAR² Center’s National Cooperative Agreement.
Provide technical assistance to key stakeholders such as health centers, Primary Care Associations (PCAs), and Health Center Controlled Networks (HCCN).
Collaborate with state and national partners on STAR2 Center projects and deliverables.
Support partnerships with organizations and subject matter experts to advance the work of the STAR2 Center.
Participate in project calls, in-person and virtual meetings, committees, and other workforce-related activities.
Prepare for and support facilitation of the triennial Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) Site Visit process.
Review emerging materials for inclusion in the STAR2 Center’s online resource center.
As a member of the ACU team, support may be needed to carry out activities relating to work outside the STAR2 Center. Other tasks include, but are not limited to:
Providing feedback/support to other ACU programs.
Participating in various ACU meetings such as the ACU Annual Conference and strategic planning meeting.
Supporting the ACU Annual Conference on a virtual or in-person basis.
Support Other ACU Programs and Initiatives as needed.
Position Requirements
Bachelor's Degree preferred – experience may be substituted for a degree.
Minimum 2-5 years of training and workforce experience or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience; including designing and facilitating virtual and in-person presentations, public speaking, curriculum development, and partnership support
Familiarity with workforce recruitment and retention, especially in the field of healthcare
Experience with MS Office Suite, Google Suite platforms, virtual platforms such as Zoom, and learning management systems
Support for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) principles and desire to improve healthcare access for the underserved
Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills
Proven experience in supporting multiple training events in a non-profit setting
Knowledge of instructional design theory and learning principles
Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences
Demonstrates skills in written and verbal communications
Experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), preferred
