    Description

    About me too. International

me too. International is a convener, thought leader, and organizer in the global movement to end sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), grounded in Black feminist principles and survivor-led healing and action. Because of the viral #MeToo hashtag, a vital conversation about sexual violence has been thrust into global dialogue. What started as local grassroots work has expanded to reach a global community of survivors from all walks of life and helped to de-stigmatize the act of surviving by highlighting the breadth and impact of a sexual violence worldwide. We strive for the realization of a more inclusive and safer world where SGBV is not just minimized, but entirely eradicated.

    Position Summary

We are seeking a Director of Global Initiatives to join our team, leading the work of ‘me too.’s global network, to support and sustain our work. The Director will build on the work that’s been done to-date, add direction in the global network development and launch, and oversee the strategies that fortify the vision. The Director will have the skill to think at a high-level, and also work granularly on a day-to-day basis. This role is entrepreneurial, as are all of ‘me too.’s roles, and it has a special need for someone who can dig-in at both a strategic level, and an execution and tactic level, with grace and ease.

This role requires exceptional leadership, communication skills, and project management mastery. It also demands an individual who is solution-oriented and enjoys thought-partnership with teammates. As ‘me too.’ has an existing body of work and strategic vision, this leader will need to not only join a set of priorities, campaigns, projects, and initiatives currently in-progress, this role will be responsible for embracing that vision and leading a team around it. The Director of Global Initiatives must be someone who checks their ego at the virtual door, and leans-in to relationship-development with charisma and joy.

We are looking for someone who understands the work of survivor justice, and who has experience working with survivors of SGBV globally, in particular women and girls of color in the Global South. This includes having experience working in direct service and rapid response in local communities, as well having led broad-ranging partnership development across various cultures and communities. We will need the individual to show their experience in building global programming successfully.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Direction:

    • Execute and build from ‘me too.’s global vision and current planning, iterating and enhancing the work along the way
    • Ideate around the various prioritizations in the global strategy, based on current events across the Global South and opportunities to work with local partners
    • Support the hub strategy, with a focus on setting the direction, goals, and growth of the various hubs and expansion of the network
    • Lead the development and implementation of impact measurement frameworks to assess the effectiveness of global initiatives and partnerships
    • Encourage and implement innovative approaches to global initiatives, leveraging new ideas and methods to address complex challenges

    Leadership and Team Development:

    • Lead the global initiatives team, fostering a collaborative environment, providing direction, thought-partnership, mentoring, coaching, and support to ensure high performance and professional growth
    • Provide clear direction, jointly set performance goals with the team, and conduct regular evaluations to ensure team members are meeting objectives
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team
    • Ensure adherence to ethical standards and organizational policies by all team members and partners, fostering a culture of integrity and compliance

    Partnership Development:

    • Identify, cultivate, and manage strategic partnerships with global hub organizations and other partners; support ‘me too.’s philanthropic efforts to fund the global network by creating content for communications and reports, as well as meeting with funders
    • Ascertain knowledge and understanding of the work of global hub partner organizations; stay current on the issues their local communities are facing in relation to SGBV and bring forward ideas on how the global network can support them
    • Develop and implement partnership strategies that advance the organization's global vision and expand its reach and impact
    • Negotiate partnership agreements and manage ongoing relationships to ensure mutual benefit and alignment with organizational goals

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • A Bachelor’s degree in sociology, women’s studies, public health, development studies, or other related social sciences; Master’s degree is preferred
    • Seven years experience working on SGBV issues, especially in providing services, training and/or advocacy
    • Experience in working with nonprofit organizations/NGOs, government institutions, or donor organizations
    • Familiarity with issues of SGBV across the Global South
    • Sensitivity and respect for diverse cultures and contexts, ensuring that all interactions and initiatives are conducted with cultural awareness and consideration for local nuances
    • Strong people management experience, with the ability to empower and develop personnel in a healthy dynamic
    • Commitment to excellence
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience facilitating diverse groups
    • Appropriate and transparent decision-making
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Proficiency in digital tools for project management, online collaboration, and virtual communication
    • Ability to think strategically and creatively, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Passion for me too. International's mission and values

    • Candidate must be available to work hours in accordance with US staff, and can be based across the Global South
    • Fluent in written and oral English
    • Preferred fluency in Spanish; proficiency in French is a plus
