    Descripción

    The Director of Development is a part-time salaried position, reporting to the President of The Maplewood Foundation. The Director is responsible for creating, leading, and executing fundraising strategies to increase donor engagement, secure sustainable financial support, and build a pipeline of gifts of all sizes. The position requires approximately 10 hours per week. The ideal candidate will reside in Maplewood, New Jersey, or a surrounding town and have a deep connection to the community and its residents.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Direct Fundraising and Donor Engagement.
    • Use data to develop and implement a strategy to identify and engage new donors, with a focus on high-potential prospects.
    • Personally cultivate, solicit, and steward major and mid-level donors to secure financial contributions.
    • Partner with Board members to schedule and conduct solicitation meetings, ensuring clear follow-up and donor stewardship.
    • Lead the execution of fundraising initiatives such as gift matches, legacy giving campaigns and donor letter appeals to meet revenue goals.
    • Coordinate with Operations Manager in creating and maintaining personalized stewardship plans to ensure consistent donor engagement and increase retention rates.
    • Check with Operations Manager to ensure that data systems and information retention are in place and working effectively on Bloomerang.
    • Collaborate with Board members to establish and grow corporate sponsorships and grants to diversify revenue streams.
    • Assist Communications Committee in developing materials and strategies to engage donors, including email updates, impact reports, and event follow-ups.
    • Work with Operations Manager to provide leadership to the Development Committee, serving as interim chair until Board member is identified to do so, ensuring strategic direction and execution of fundraising efforts.
    • Work with Operations Manager to facilitate monthly committee meetings, preparing agendas, assigning follow-ups and driving progress on fundraising goals.
    • Regularly report fundraising progress to President, identifying opportunities and barriers to achieving financial targets. Attend Trustee meetings and give report until a chair is identified.
    • Identify new Development Committee prospects.

    Qualifications

    • Extensive experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of cultivating and securing major gifts.
    • Strong knowledge of Maplewood, New Jersey, and established relationships within its community.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to inspire and engage donors and stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in donor database systems (e.g., Bloomerang) and data driven fundraising strategies.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead committees and achieve measurable fundraising outcomes.
