    Who We Are

    Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity (IM4HI) is a multi-faith organization working for the dignity and full inclusion of immigrants and people impacted by incarceration. We believe that every person is sacred across bars and borders and we bring voice and leadership to social movements to ensure the full humanity of every individual and the holistic well-being of our communities.

    Today, IM4HumanIntegrity works in two issue areas at the intersection of racial equity and human rights: immigrant justice and criminal justice reform. We organize faith actions of solidarity, use public witness to shape the general understanding of the issue, and work in coalition with partners to bring a faith perspective to policy advocacy. We develop the leadership capacity, power and engagement of impacted immigrants and those formerly incarcerated and people of faith.

    Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity Values

    Centering Voices of Directly-Impacted Communities: The majority of our leaders have been directly impacted by our current criminalization systems and they consult and guide the planning process of our programs and events.

    Framing our Advocacy Work with a Racial Equity Framework: Our content and tools are rooted in our advocacy combats racism, xenophobia, and other oppressive ideologies that form current social justice issues of immigration, colonization, and criminalization. We seek to address accessibility and inclusion in all our work.

    Integrating Interfaith Principles and Practices: Our content and tools incorporate interfaith practices to build a sustainable solidarity network of activism.

    Humanizing Our Experience: We incorporate moments for human connection, spiritual and emotional processing throughout our work.

    Being a Prophetic Witness : Our faith-rooted organizing model bears witness to a visionary and public morality that has national implications.

    The Position: Operations Coordinator

    The Coordinator will work closely with and be supervised by a member of IM4HI’s Leadership Team and coordinate our vendors supporting us with accounting, human resources and other related functions. The person will be responsible for improving and coordinating the operation functions to effectively support the organizing and program teams to implement the external work. The work includes financial management, human resources, information technology, security and office management.

    Operations Coordinator Job Responsibilities

    Operations

    • Ensure smooth day-to-day functioning of the organization.
    • Manage all aspects of office space, assets, supplies and equipment, including security, leases, contracts, and insurance.
    • Manage vendor relationships and records.
    • Ensure we are in full legal and organizational compliance.
    • Serve as Operations thought-partner to leadership team.
    • Proactively identify, improve and resolve organizational challenges that arise.

    Financial

    • Liaise between staff and external accounting firm. Ensure they complete day-to-day, monthly and annual financial tasks, including: processing expenses and cash receipts, paying invoices, coding expenses and reimbursements, producing financial reports, book-keeping, and improving accountability systems and controls.
    • Manage other external financial vendors including tax preparers, independent auditors, and banking relationships.

    Information Technology

    • Ensure effective and efficient implementation of IT hardware, infrastructure and systems.
    • Manage company Google Suite, and other external platforms and tech vendors to ensure efficient and seamless service.
    • Troubleshooting with staff to ensure IT in their home is effective, and troubleshooting in the Chinatown office location.
    • Collaborating with program staff to create and implement database systems to support the ongoing programs and operations.

    Human Resources

    • Liaise between staff and Professional Employer Organization vendor responsible for HR activities including payroll, human resources, and employee benefits.
    • Manage the recruitment process to fill open positions by coordinating talent searches on relevant channels, screening resumes, helping hiring managers recruit great people to join our team.
    • Assist with preparing onboarding and off-boarding materials.
    • Create and maintain employee records in compliance with all laws; create and maintain various management documents, including our employee manual, job descriptions, training plans, and organizational chart.

    Qualifications

    • At least two years of experience in operations management or administrative field required (in the nonprofit sector preferred).
    • Understand non-profit business functions such as HR, Finance, IT infrastructure, etc.
    • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
    • Flexibility to adjust and contribute to continually evolving work situations, a growing organization and changing priorities.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, initiative and impeccable follow-through.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Excellent interpersonal and organizional skills.
    • Collaborates and works well in a team environment.
    • Comfortable working online using various platforms (Constant Contact, Airtable, Google Suite, Zoom, etc.).
    • Able to model IM4HI values and messages, and communicate these successfully to volunteer teams, staff and vendors.
    • Commitment to social justice, racial equity and IM4HI’s mission and values.
    • Spanish a Plus

    Work Schedule and Environment

    • In person at our Oakland office 1-2 days per week.
    • Remote working 3-4 days a week
    • Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings for meetings when needed
    • Quiet Friday Policies allow staff to use Fridays as a day of rest, spiritual nourishment, study, and self-care.
