    Unite Oregon is a 501(c)3 grassroots community organization with four chapters, in Multnomah County, Washington County, Clackamas County, and the Rogue Valley. We believe that all people can become leaders and agents of change in the areas of racial justice, immigrant and refugee rights, affordable housing, and living wages. Unite Oregon is building a unified intercultural movement for justice in our state.

    Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000 per year; generous and progressive benefits including medical and dental care 100% of premiums paid by Unite Oregon, paid wellness leave, vacation, flex time, and personal days off; technology reimbursement; 4 hours personal time off/week, $300 annual FSA contribution, 2.5% 401K contribution after 6 months.

    Position Description

    Unite Oregon is seeking a Grants Associate with .5 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, marketing, and/or development related work. The Grant Associate will brainstorm, write, edit and submit funding proposals for private and public funds; prepare and submit required reports for foundation, corporate, and government grants; research funding prospects that could support current and future programs; and maintain internal systems for tracking progress and deadlines.

    Duties include: funder relations and communications; grant administration and management; completing grant reports; completing grant applications; supporting Development team and Executive Director in engaging staff and Board of Directors in fundraising efforts. The role will report to the Grants Director and work closely with the Development Team.

    The ideal candidate has strong writing skills and experience with fundraising, writing and preparing grants and grant reports, fundraising, researching and/or securing grants and contracts, donor communications and/or customer services, working in databases, communications with funders and/or customer service experience. Candidates must have experience collaborating with a diverse team and demonstrate a high level of cultural competency. In addition, successful candidates must have the ability and willingness to learn new systems, experience with a fast-paced nonprofit environment, understand racial justice messaging, and be movement-oriented.

    Development Position Responsibilities

    • Support the Development Team with grant administration and management of 20-25+ active foundation, corporate, and government grants.
    • Collaborate with the Development Team to communicate grant activity, timing and reporting needs to program staff and the finance team.
    • Collaborate with Grant Director and program managers to collect program data resulting in accurate, timely, and compelling grant reports by designated deadlines.
    • Assist with writing and submitting grant proposals through a variety of grant management platforms.
    • Maintain and strengthen relationships with funders and assist in funder communications.
    • Collaborate with program and organizational leaders to build funding proposals and budgets for ongoing and pilot programming.
    • Research and prospect new funding sources, including corporate sponsorships, grant funding, general operating funding and more.
    • Work with the Development Team to ensure fundraising goals are met. Support fundraising events.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • 3 - 5 years professional work experience in grant writing, management or fundraising role.
    • Some grant writing and reporting experience.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills.
    • Highly organized, attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
    • Commitment to racial justice.
    • Ability to work with a diverse, multicultural staff, board, membership, and partners of various backgrounds.
    • Experience in, or interest in working in an organization that is primarily staffed by and serves immigrant, refugee, and Black, Indigenous, People of Color.
    • Good customer service and communication skills; ability to interact with donors, Board members, businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and other constituents in-person, by phone and in writing.
    • Database and/or CRM software experience.
