Hudson Hall fulfills its mission by offering a year-round schedule of inclusive and accessible cultural and educational programs for adults and youth, serving as an important civic partner in the continued revitalization of the City of Hudson, and maintaining its historic building, all of which serves, strengthens, and unites our community.

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with a small staff of six full-time and two part-time employees, the energetic and visionary Executive Director is responsible for leading the $1.4 million organization's mission, overseeing operations, developing programs and artistic direction, and cultivating relationships with stakeholders, all while ensuring financial sustainability and community engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the burgeoning arts and cultural scene upstate and the special role Hudson Hall plays as a leading presenter.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as an internal and external champion for Hudson Hall's mission and vision.
    • Together with the board and executive staff, develop and implement strategic planning, ensuring alignment with Hudson Hall’s mission, goals and capacity.
    • Develop and implement engaging and impactful cultural programs, exhibitions, and events and provide overall artistic direction, in collaboration with our excellent senior staff.
    • Work closely with the Director of Development, Director of Marketing, and Board of Directors to drive and increase fundraising from all sources, including strategy and implementation, and participate directly in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors, as well as grant writing.
    • Working closely with the Director of Development and the Board of Directors, lead and expand fundraising initiatives, including capital and annual giving campaigns, special events and cultivating, soliciting and stewarding relationships with individual donors, foundations, local businesses, government, and other grant-making organizations.
    • Act as liaison to the Board, coordinate and attend meetings, prepare board reports, and serve as an ex-officio member of all Board committees.
    • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing it to the media, funders, and the public, as well as at local, county and region-wide meetings and events
    • Foster strong relationships with community members, partners, and stakeholders.
    • Oversee the organization's budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability, and serve as the point person for the audit and bookkeeper.
    • Hire, train, supervise, mentor and evaluate staff and foster a positive and productive work environment, in conjunction with department heads.
    • Promote and ensure volunteer engagement.
    • Working with the General Manager, oversee Hudson Hall’s facilities, human resources; and IT.
    • Act as the Front of House manager to welcome the public to the theater, help manage box office and seating, and be present for donor engagement opportunities immediately following events.

    Qualities + Qualifications

    • Five+ years of experience in nonprofit management in the live arts or a related field
    • Passion for Hudson Hall’s mission, its cultural and educational programs, and community engagement and inclusion
    • Experience working closely with a board, staff, partners, and external constituents, as well as managing staff.
    • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets
    • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, and securing institutional and capital funding and grant writing
    • Experience in marketing, public relations, audience development and community engagement
    • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, team building and communication skills
    • A strong work ethic and flexibility to attend Hudson Hall and community events and engagements beyond traditional business hours
    • Interest in economic development, city and regional planning
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Google Suite, QuickBooks, and experience with box office/donor CRM software and technology
    • Knowledge of the Hudson Valley and live arts a plus

    Benefits

    Salary is $120,000. Benefits include health insurance (15% co-pay), access to dental and vision insurance, three weeks of vacation, special year-end paid time off, federal holidays, and five sick days.
