    HumanitiesDC's three District Fellowships are designed to support humanists, and non-profit professionals early in their careers and currently residing in the DC area. This program is meant to provide fellows with hands-on experience, professional development, and opportunities to lead their own projects or initiatives within program areas. Fellows work side-by-side with HumanitiesDC staff, receive coaching, and get increased exposure to our area's humanities community.

    ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIPS

    Our three 2025 District Fellowships include the following focus areas. Please pay close attention to the start and end dates for each position which are staggered throughout the winter and spring. Click each Fellow title below to learn more.

    These positions will be based primarily at the HumanitiesDC office located at 1804 T St. NW Washington, DC 20009. Some remote work is optional. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some evening and weekend activities. The position schedule is negotiable, but Fellows are expected to work 20 hours per week.

    In the application portal you will be prompted to answer short essay questions and to upload your resume. If you wish to upload a cover letter (not required), please add it to the end of your resume. Key questions to be answered in the portal include:

    • What is your connection to the humanities? [250-500 words max].
    • Describe your experience as it relates to your selected fellowship(s) and what you hope to gain from this experience [250-500 words max].

    Applications will be accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis. For best consideration, applications for the Community Engagement + Communications Fellow should be received by November 30, 2024. Applications for the DC Oral History Collaborative Fellow and Community Grants Fellow should be received by February 28, 2025. Our search will remain open until all positions are filled.
