    JOB PURPOSE

    As a Development & Communications (DevComms) Department member, the Manager of Individual Giving & Events will contribute to the organization's overall resource development plans and strategies, collaborate with the Board and other department members to achieve LEAP’s fundraising goals and build a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization. The successful candidate will be able to communicate LEAP’s mission effectively and passionately to a broad audience both in the written word and verbally. This candidate will be equally skilled at analyzing data and cultivating donor relationships. This hybrid position requires occasional evening and weekend hours, particularly during LEAP’s intensive donor engagement periods in the fall and spring. The candidate will work in the office, on-site at various locations, and from home.

    Reporting to the Executive Director as Interim Supervisor and working within the DevComms Department, the Manager of Individual Giving & Events will be key in managing the existing and prospective portfolio of individual donor relationships while supporting the facilitation of deeper engagement strategies for all donors. They will also help the DevComms team function by collaborating inter-departmentally and administering monthly and quarterly progress-to-goals reporting.

    Donor Engagement 50%

    • Collaborate with DevComms, Program, and Senior Management teams to support funder cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
    • Prepare donor briefing documents for major donor meetings with the Executive Director and Director of Development.
    • Coordinate major donor visits and communications for top prospects.
    • Work with the Executive Director to grow a donor portfolio, soliciting gifts between $500 and $2,500.
    • Manage workflows for major fundraising appeals, including year-end and Spring Benefit.
    • Cultivate donors using Moves Management, engaging through emails, events, and calls.
    • Manage donor follow-up after special and cultivation events.
    • Partner with DevComms to craft and manage donor communications, appeals, and event content.
    • Oversee the production and distribution of fundraising appeals, including direct mail and digital campaigns.
    • Provide content for donor communications, annual reports, and appeals.
    • Maintain donor data in Salesforce, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.

    Events 25%

    • Function as point of contact for all fundraising events at LEAP
    • Support the execution of LEAP’s fundraising events, including the annual benefit, to identify new and steward current donors in partnership with external consultants, development, communications, and program colleagues, maintaining LEAP’s annual calendar of fundraising campaigns and events.
    • Manage the planning and execution of small donor cultivation gatherings in donor homes and the community.
    • In coordination with the Director of Development, support the events-based cultivation strategy for key constituents, including the Board of Directors and the Young Professionals Committee.
    • Partner with program management to develop the annual calendar of fundraising and culminating program events
    • Collaborate with leadership and colleagues to develop a vision for successful fundraising events and lead event execution.
    • Achieve event goals by raising substantial funds and managing event expenses.
    • Develop sponsorship opportunities with the Director of Development to attract top-level sponsors in collaboration with the Director of Development.
    • Maintain a portfolio of event donors with the goal of stewardship, renewal, and increased sponsorship.
    • Serve as the DevComms team’s event ticketing representative, executing ticket requests from donors.

    Board Support, Donor Analysis, Prospecting Research, and Reporting 25%

    • Serve as administrative liaison to the Board of Directors, organizing minutes, attending meetings, taking notes, and supporting the Executive Director as required to manage the area of Board Relations.
    • Organize and create donor packages and other information needed by the Board or major donors.
    • In collaboration with the Director of Development, build and track customized annual giving plans for each Board member through major gifts and event support to effectively leverage their professional and personal networks in securing resources.
    • Produce Board giving reports monthly, quarterly, and yearly with support from the Director of Development.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Development Operations and Public Partnerships (SM DOPP) to promptly complete accurate gift entries and acknowledgment.
    • Support Director of Development in generating accurate and timely Board and YP giving reports.
    • Reconcile all individual giving reports with interdepartmental support from Finance and DevOps
    • Utilize Salesforce CRM and Fundraise Up to manage and update donor records, track interactions, and update research findings, engagement plans, and outcomes.
    • Create segmentations, lists, and data extractions in close collaboration with the Director of Development and the SMDOPP to support the department’s research and prospecting needs and fund campaigns.
    • Conduct donor research to assess affinity, philanthropic interests, and capacity for giving.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Managers must have experience working in fundraising and development in a nonprofit organization and a deep connection to the mission of arts education and creative youth development. They will have:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and training.
    • Minimum of 3 years experience working in a nonprofit organization in a progressive development capacity.
    • Proven success raising funds from individual donors via direct solicitation, events, and campaigns.
    • Strong problem-solving, relationship management, and leadership skills.
    • Self-motivated and effective working independently or within a team.
    • Excellent project management, writing, and attention to detail.
    • Proficient in Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms).
    • Salesforce experience.
    • Strong people skills with the ability to inspire teams to achieve goals.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication.
    • Skilled in managing donor relationships.
    • Capable of handling multiple projects and competing deadlines.
    • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about youth art education.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    • Salary: $70,000- $75,000
    • Hours/Schedule: This position has a 37.5 hour work week, with 2 days in the office.
