School Mission

Brooklyn Jesuit Prep is a Jesuit, Catholic middle school for students and families from underserved communities. The mission of the school is to break the cycle of poverty through education, employing a rigorous, well-rounded program with an extended school day, summer leadership camp, and robust graduate support program.

Role Description

The Middle School Math & Science teacher will support our school’s mission as a classroom leader and role model, unlocking the potential within our students as intellectual leaders and young men and women for others. This role entails teaching four periods per day (1- 5th Grade Math, 1- 5th Grade Science, & 2- 6th Grade Science). This position may also include homeroom and extracurricular leadership during our extended day program, as well as other duties assigned by the principal.

• Bachelor’s degree. Candidates will ideally bring 1-3 years of experience teaching in a middle school setting.

Essential Responsibilities

• Animate the mission of our school through all classes, activities, and interactions with students or parents.
• Teach four periods per day to the 5th & 6th Grade.
• Participate in the daily life of the school through potential duties at recess, lunch, after school, etc.
• Propose and lead extracurricular sports or activities during our extended day.

Potentially lead a homeroom class of no more than fifteen students at the beginning and end of each day.
