    Senior Director of Experts and Booking

    The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that fights for equity for all women and families. We’re passionate about making change on big issues, such as equal pay for all women, paid leave for working families, and access to affordable health care that includes abortion and reproductive care. We advocate for policy change in the public and private sector, at the federal, state and local levels, and through close collaboration with allies and partners on the Hill and across the country.

    We are seeking a Senior Director of Experts and Booking to join our fun and friendly communications team. Our team helps to bring voice to the issues the National Partnership works on, with the belief that media is an extremely powerful tool for improving the lives of women and families.

    The Senior Director of Experts and Booking is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications.

    Position Summary

    The Senior Director of Experts and Booking works with the Vice President of Marketing and Communications to deploy our president, surrogates and experts of the National Partnership across national and regional media outlets. The Senior Director will be responsible for overseeing all relationships with media bookers, crafting booking memos, gathering talking points, creating protocol and developing strategies to increase the visibility of the National Partnership’s president and staff experts and fellows. In addition, you would be responsible for helping to elevate the profile of our president who is the first Black woman to run this 50-year-old organization. The Senior Director will also be responsible for helping to media train staff for tv and radio interviews.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Successfully pitching and booking our president and other surrogates on tv, radio and podcasts programming
    • Developing and implementing strategies to interject our expertise into the current news cycle
    • Cultivating, maintaining high-level national broadcast, digital streaming, radio, and podcast relationships and partnerships on an ongoing basis;
    • Developing and overseeing the strategy for pitching National Partnership surrogates and experts for media appearances, including handling the necessary logistics and managing preparation and research, and establishing organization protocols for media appearances
    • Work with the VP of Marketing and Communications to determine the value of incoming media appearance requests.
    • Using social media and relevant databases to track the comings and goings of on-air talent and booking producers
    • Managing a press associate and rotating internship position

    Qualifications

    • You have successfully worked with a national principal to book tv and radio appearances
    • You have experience and are confident with briefing and coaching principals and senior leaders on how to perfect their television presence
    • You have strong current relationships with booking producers at major news networks such as MSNBC, ABC, CNN and CBS
    • You have a strong understanding of how to use social media to engage with reporters and be part of the news cycle
    • You have experience with rapid response as well as meeting tight deadlines based on breaking news
    • You have a strong instinct for what drives the national news cycle and good political judgment
    • You understand that all social policy issues are impacted by racism and sexism, and you have a clear understanding of what white privilege is and how it hinders efforts to create equity
    • You have worked to incorporate race equity into your work in a way that doesn’t feel superficial, and you know how to reach out to partner organizations and build alliances

    Classification

    The National Partnership recognizes a staff bargaining unit, National Partnership United, affiliated with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union/IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is NOT included in the NP United bargaining unit. Specific employment terms are subject to collective bargaining.

    Salary and Benefits

    The salary range for this role is $143,372 - $160,992 with the exact salary determined by years of relevant experience, in alignment with NPWF’s compensation setting criteria.

    The Senior Director of Experts and Booking is a full-time position based in our Washington, DC office. The National Partnership maintains a hybrid work environment where staff are required to be in the office a minimum of 4 days per month, with additional in-office and in-person days determined by your role and job responsibilities.

Fully Vaccinated is defined by the CDC as being 2 weeks after the final dose in a primary series of COVID-19 vaccines (2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna, 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson). Up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible. New employees must be fully vaccinated before their start date, and up-to-date as soon as eligible, unless an exemption due to a medical condition or a sincerely held religious belief or practice is granted.
