    The Supportive Housing Network of New York

    The Supportive Housing Network of New York represents more than 200 nonprofit organizations that have created over 50,000 units of supportive housing across New York State. An additional 35,000 units are slated for the next fifteen years: 15,000 from a New York City commitment and 20,000 from the State. The Network uses advocacy, public education, training, technical assistance, research, and policy analysis to increase the public's understanding of supportive housing – affordable housing with voluntary services for formerly homeless people with disabilities and special needs. The Network identifies and shares best practices that continually improve the model’s effectiveness and, most importantly, encourages the creation of enough supportive housing to end homelessness among the most vulnerable New Yorkers.

    About the Position

    Reporting to the Associate Director of Engagement and Communications, the Supportive Housing Training Series & Community of Practice (CoP) Consultant will play a key role in overseeing, implementing and executing the second year in the Network’s inaugural Safety and Wellbeing Training Series and CoP, that hosts a centralized, best-in-class offering of trainings and resources to better equip and support NYC’s supportive housing program staff.

    The Network’s Safety & Wellbeing Training Series & CoP collaborates with Network Members to host monthly virtual trainings and in-person training-specific Community of Practice sessions, as well as additional virtual sessions with CoP participants and leadership at participating agencies. The series will have thirty participating Network member agencies who can send as many staff to trainings and commit 1-2 staff to participate in the CoP.

    This part-time position is a NYC-based hybrid consultant role running January 2025 through October 2026.

    Job Description

    The Supportive Housing Training Academy Consultant will project manage the Network’s Training Series and Community of Practice (CoP), coordinate and arrange all logistics for in-person and virtual trainings and in-person CoP meetings, and act as the primary communication liaison between participants and trainers, which will include the following responsibilities:

    • Project manage work plan and timeline for the Training Series & CoP
    • Act as primary communication liaison with CoP participants and trainers/SMEs
    • Secure spaces and coordinate with venues for in-person trainings and CoP meetings
    • Coordinate with training staff to develop curriculum, edit slides, and prepare for trainings and CoP sessions
    • Staff on-site CoP meetings and in-person trainings, set-up, break-down, and help facilitate meetings
    • Track training series and CoP attendance and report back to agencies
    • Coordinate virtual CoP offerings: monthly CoP drop-in meetings and three mid-way virtual sessions
    • Draft pre/post training evaluations, provide summary data
    • Assist with drafting summary report of Training Series activities
    • Opportunity to manage curriculum development, training and facilitation for qualified participants.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • A passion for the Supportive Housing Network of New York’s mission
    • Strong background with the supportive housing community in New York City
    • Strong record of project management and coordination
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Experience planning and executing events, both virtual and in-person
    • Training curriculum and/or execution experience a plus
    • Facilitation skills required

    Compensation

    The compensation for this position is $120/hour up to a max of $70K per year in 2025.
