VAL is a member of the AELN, Vermont Adult Education and Literacy Network, in partnership with the Vt Agency of Education. VAL operates physical learning centers in 7 of Vermont's 14 counties, as well as an Online Learning Center.
About the job:
The Regional Director works onsite at the regional learning center in Rutland, and is the community representative for VAL in the Rutland county region. The regional director will lead a team of 6 full-time direct reports plus a small adjunct staff in serving an annual roster of 200+ students, 20% of whom are English Language Learners, to VAL's service level expectations. They will actively contribute to advancing organizational goals as a member of the VAL Leadership Team of directors and executives, and will build and nurture relationships between VAL, local schools and guidance counselors, and other community organizations. The regional director is charged with managing the center's $500k budget and expenses, ensuring program success, and can act as a senior advisor for advancing student progress.
About you:
This role requires in-person work at the Learning Center. We're in search of a dedicated team leader who is confident in a hybrid learning environment, an expert in team dynamics, and a creative problem-solver ready to roll up their sleeves and make a difference in Vermont communities. Master's degree is a plus, and can be replaced with 5+ years of relevant experience in educational settings. You'll get our attention if you have a deep connection to the Rutland county community and the ability to leverage those connections to advance learning opportunities for adult learners. Enthusiasm for working with LGBTQ+ students is a requirement of this role.
