    ROLE TITLE: Director of Development

    POSITION REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Dr. Pedro Cevallos

    START DATE: ASAP

    LOCATION: THIS IS AN IN-OFFICE JOB. NO REMOTE WORK IS POSSIBLE. We have two offices, one in Coconut Grove (Zip Code = 33133) and another one in Doral (Zip Code = 33172). You must be 100% aligned with our mission. If you cannot commute to either office or plan on moving to Miami at some undetermined time in the future, this job is not for you.     COMPENSATION: $80,ooo/year + a $20,000 bonus for reaching your revenue target ($1M for the first year). If you surpass your goal, you will be rewarded with performance based-bonuses to be discussed during the interview.

    CONTEXT:

    The Education Reform Project is a non-profit organization committed to the positive transformation of our nation’s educational system, placing the needs of students and teachers at the forefront of public policy and effectuating systematic change through innovation, creativity and common sense.

    We are a budding young organization. This position will allow you to start on the ground floor and set up all fundraising and CRM systems the way you want them. As our revenue grows, you’ll be able to grow your team as well as your overall compensation.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    • Setting up all fundraising systems for the organization. Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise the infrastructure needed to grow through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support
    • Cultivate, steward, grow, and manage a portfolio of donors who share our commitment to our mission. Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government (local, state, and federal)
    • Lead, develop, and solicit a portfolio of high net worth prospects and donors
    • Expand and diversify donor base/pipeline
    • Oversee grant processes as well as report to multiple donor sources
    • Lead all data entry and management of donor database and gift processing
    • Manage all yearly fundraising events you want to lead
    • Support and partner with Executive Director and The Board of Directors in all fundraising goals.

    KEY QUALIFICATIONS/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Complete alignment with our mission
    • Five or more years of demonstrated success in securing philanthropic funds for a nonprofit institution of similar size
    • Proven success growing fundraising at an institution
    • Experience closing gifts at the 5 and 6-figure levels required; experience closing 7-figure gifts is highly preferred
    • Demonstrated experience with strategic engagement of volunteer leadership including committees and/or boards
    • Superlative verbal and written communications skills
    • Manage multiple projects with accuracy, precision, and on time
    • Ability to work autonomously (with little guidance) and in a team setting
    • Experience with program evaluation, data collection, and analysis a plus
    • Good moral character, mature judgment, and a strong sense of responsibility and dedication
    • Highly positive and enthusiastic style; capable of motivating others
    • Outstanding project management skills with the ability to drive complex, multi-faceted projects forward to deliver results on time
    • Experience working in an urban community with diverse population
