The Role:
We’re looking for an expert Grant Writer and Strategic Funding Consultant with a successful track record securing county, state, federal, and foundation grants. This individual will play a key role in building our funding infrastructure and identifying and closing internal gaps to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Identify and apply for local, state, federal, and private foundation grants aligned with our mission
• Write compelling, customized grant proposals, LOIs, and reports
• Research and recommend fiscal sponsor models or partners to expand our grant eligibility
• Conduct a comprehensive funding-readiness assessment for our organization and provide a strategic plan
• Build a grants calendar and tracking system for deadlines and deliverables
• Collaborate with leadership to align programs with available funding streams
• Develop narratives and budgets that reflect both compliance and creativity
You’re a Great Fit If You:
• Have 3+ years of demonstrated success in nonprofit grant writing, especially in mental health, social impact, or arts & culture
• Are skilled at both large-scale (government) and community-based grant acquisition
• Understand the nonprofit funding landscape, including fiscal sponsorship structures
• Have a consultative mindset—you assess needs, create solutions, and elevate outcomes
• Are organized, self-directed, and proactive
• Thrive in mission-driven environments where your words drive real-world change
Bonus Points If You:
• Have familiarity with mental health systems, racial equity work, or entertainment-based healing programs
• Have helped new or emerging nonprofits secure their first major grants
• Are based in California and familiar with county RFPs or DHCS funding streams
