    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Sr. Director, Donor and Foundation Relations, the Grant Writer is responsible for researching, preparing, writing and securing grant funding, assisting with managing national grant strategies, and ensuring that grant-related contributed income goals are met. This includes securing grants from existing funders and actively seeking new opportunities that align with the mission of Girls on the Run.

    Principle Responsibilities

    Grant Management

    • In conjunction with the Sr. Director, Donor and Foundation Relations, build an annual grant revenue goal and strategy that incorporates past and present funders and is mindful for future opportunities.
    • Achieve the annual grant revenue goal to ensure that priority projects and programs are funded.
    • Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage national grant proposals to foundation, government and corporate sources, including ongoing research to qualify prospects. Secure national funding for organization-wide priorities via unrestricted annual support, program and special project support, thereby achieving the annual grant revenue goal to ensure that priority projects and programs are funded.
    • Collaborate with other teams and HQ staff to identify department-specific funding needs.
    • Serve as the relationship contact for National Funders, working in collaboration with the Sr. Director, Donor and Foundation Relations on strategies, tactics and plans to steward foundation partners.
    • Create tactics and execute plans that attract invite-only grant opportunities.
    • Continually conduct prospect research to identify potential opportunities and grow grant portfolio with active pipeline.
    • Maintain case documentation, updating as needed for the most current and accurate language describing Girls on the Run projects and programs.
    • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date account of grant makers, tracking prospects, solicitations, follow-up, funding, meeting notes, reporting and research.
    • Comply with and create all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.
    • Identify council pass-thru opportunities that stem from national grants.

    While this position is remote, residency in one of the following states is required: CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, LA, NC, OR, PA, RI, SC, TX, VA, WA, WI, WY.

    Qualifications

    • 4+ years of proven success writing and winning grants.
    • Analytical and persuasive writing skills, including the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
    • Engaging relationship-builder with an ability to connect with internal and external audiences and leverage those relationships to cultivate additional opportunities.
    • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to set priorities, work under pressure and deliver within deadlines. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.
    • Strong customer service skills with excellent follow-up and follow-through.
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Grant databases, and project management software.
