    LOCATION: Northwest Youth Corps Headquarters, Eugene, Oregon. Frequent regional travel required.

    STARTING WAGE: $94,000 annual salary

    ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

    Since 1984, Northwest Youth Corps (NYC),a non-profit organization, has given tens of thousands of youth and young adults opportunities to learn, grow, and experience success. Through partnerships with conservation agencies, youth and young adults gain the personal and professional skills needed to carry out a variety of stewardship projects, from which they can earn a stipend, high school credit, and/or an AmeriCorps educational award. More importantly, these young people gain skills needed to become economically and socially self- sufficient, benefit their communities as citizen stewards, and recognize that they can make a positive difference. NYC also operates an accredited charter school, internship program, and the Idaho Conservation Corps (ICC).

    Position Summary

    The Vice President of Programs and Partnerships is a key member of the NYC Leadership team and works closely with the President and the Executive Team to implement, design, and support systems which advance the success of Northwest Youth Corp’s mission and strategic initiatives. The Vice President of Programs and Partnerships supervises and supports the Directors of the Conservation Corps, Idaho Conservation Corps, Community Wildfire Protection Corps, and Operations Departments to ensure safety, quality, consistency, fiscal stability and smooth operation of the Corps Program areas. This position facilitates supportive collaboration across Departments, develops systems and controls for quality assurance, while supporting and advancing the strategic goals of the organization. This position is responsible for building and stewarding relationships with key stakeholders and partners at the regional and national level. They work collaboratively with three executive staff to drive innovation while ensuring effective programmatic infrastructure and systems. Provides support, coordination, and management of operations as necessary during transitions of individual program Directors and other key staff. Acts as the key liaison to senior leadership of our project partners.

    Position Details

    Department Supervision

    • The Vice President of Programs and Partnerships reports directly to the President.
    • Responsible for oversight of five significant Department areas including supervision, budget development, financial success, and accomplishment of department and organizational goals.
    • The VP of Programs and Partnerships directlysupervises up to 6 Director-level staff and frequently collaborates with other staff throughout the organization.
    • Both supervised staffand key collaborators will likelybe located in other offices/states.
    • The Vice President of Programs and Partnerships is a memberof the Strategy and Leadership Teams.
    • Both supervised staffand key collaborators will be locatedin other offices/states.

    • Promote continued organizational support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. This positionis one of the key organizational leaders for these endeavors.
    • Work to removebarriers to participation with NYC for underrepresented populations in our programsand our staff.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Partnerships
      • Facilitate the professional stewardship of key partnerships
      • Maintain and stewardrelationships with influential agency staff
      • Support the growthof skill in staff team related to relationship development
      • Collaborate with departments to ensure timelyand professional reporting
      • Design and pilot program innovations that extend NYC’s mission
      • Grow partnership in new sectorsidentified in strategic plan
    • ConservationCorps Programming
      • Provide professional mentoring and direct supervision to Department Directors
      • Ensure quality experience for participants
      • Ensure highest commitment to safe work practices and training
      • Support a cultureof customer servicefor project partners
      • Support development and execution of department goals
      • Support the development of policies and procedures
      • Support budget development and financial goals
    • Operations
      • Provide professional supportand direct supervision for Department Director
      • Facilitate a cultureof quality, serviceand accountability for facilities, fleet,and equipment
      • Support development and execution of department goals

    • Quality Assurance
      • Ensure standards meet or exceedindustry best practices.
      • Drive key initiatives of strategic plan.
      • Provide support for staff professional development and evaluation.
      • NYC programs and innovations are aligned with organizational mission.
      • Continuously assess and balance staffingteams to achieveefficiency and equitable workloads.
      • Collaborate with Development team to identifyfunding opportunities
      • Ensure timely and accurate reporting – both internaland external

    Position Qualifications

    • Deep background in Conservation Corps Industry.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
    • Creative and innovative systems thinker.
    • Excellent communication skills with provenleadership expertise.
    • Budgetary and financialmanagement experience with an organization of similar size
    • Experienced, calm crisismanager in both field and office settings.
    • Experience in youthdevelopment.
    • Proven success in creating collaborative relationships and/or coalitions.
    • History of effectively working with public resource management agencies.
    • Must possess a valid driver’slicense and an acceptable drivingrecord as some travel will be required.

    Education / Experience

    Management A minimum of ten years Director level management experience in a non-profit conservation corps setting with high accountability.

    Education – Master’s degree with an emphasis in Education, Management, or Resource Management required. Relevant work experience may be substituted for college degree.

    Certification –Current Wilderness First Responder and USDA Chainsaw and Crosscut Level B or above, or ability to attain these certifications within first 6 months of employment.

    Alignment must have a strong interest in NYC’s goals, the ability to work as a team member and a sense of humor. Previous experience which demonstrates organizational skills, the ability to perform at a consistently high level under pressure, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and familiarity with a wide range of communications tactics will be necessary to succeed in this position.

    Physical Demands/Work Environment

    • Potential for periodicnon-traditional work hours,inclusive of weekendand evening hours.
    • In the performance of the job duties, the employee will primarily work in an office setting.
    • Travel will includevisits to Stateoffices in Idaho and Washington.

    Terms of Employment

    This is a full time, exempt and supervisory position. Typical hours are Monday through Friday,8:00AM to 5:00 PM.Workload varies seasonally and will require long days and/or evening and weekend responsibilities periodically.
