    ABOUT NEW HARVEST

    New Harvest is a research institute that accelerates responsible research and innovation (RRI) and collaboration among stakeholders in the field of cellular agriculture. We have entities in the US, Canada, and the Netherlands. As the nonprofit hub building the cellular agriculture ecosystem, New Harvest brings long-range vision to the space and addresses the fundamentals necessary to elevate the discipline and organize collective responsibility in this developing field.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    This position is pending grant funding, if the grant is approved it is a fixed term, three year contract. The candidate must live in Alberta, Canada.

    The Grant Coordinator will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating grants for New Harvest Canada. They will be responsible for researching, identifying, and applying for grant opportunities that align with our organization's purpose and goals. Additionally, they will manage the grant application process, coordinate, and ensure compliance with guidelines and deadlines. The Grant Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Responsible Research and Innovation, the finance team, and grant partners to gather information, prepare grant proposals, and monitor the progress and outcomes of funded projects. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Candidates must be based in Alberta. Fluency in oral and written English and French is preferred.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Research and identify potential grant funding opportunities that align with the organization's mission and goals.
    • Manage the grant application process, including preparing grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation.
    • Coordinate with grant partners to gather information and budget items required for grant applications.
    • Ensure compliance with grant guidelines, requirements, and deadlines.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with grantors, partners, foundations, and other funding sources.
    • Execute and administer grant contracts.
    • Coordinate, facilitate and ensure minutes are kept for grant project meetings
    • Keep stakeholders updated on project progress.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for partners and grantmakers.
    • Monitor the progress and outcomes of funded projects, and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with Directors and the finance team to ensure effective implementation of funded projects.
    • Track and manage grant-related documentation, including contracts, agreements, minutes, and reporting requirements.
    • Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of grant-funded programs to assess effectiveness and impact.
    • Stay updated on relevant industry trends, best practices, and changes in grant regulations.
    • Spearhead new grant applications in support of New Harvest’s purpose and goals

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

    • Master’s degree in a field related to cellular agriculture (e.g. biotechnology, food science, tissue engineering, etc.).
    • Proven experience in applying for and administering large, multi-stakeholder grants
    • Knowledge of grant funding sources and grant application processes in Canada.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts.
    • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize information from various sources.
    • Advanced organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in preparing grant proposals and maintaining documentation.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of grant writing techniques, including budget development and evaluation of outcomes.
    • Familiarity with grant regulations, compliance requirements, and reporting procedures.

    • Ability to foster a collaborative working environment, encouraging the integration of others’ ideas
    • Demonstrated record of initiative, problem solving, and adaptability
    • Strong listening, communication, and collaboration skills

    Compensación

    The position is fully remote and work hours are in MST. This is a fixed term position for three years. The position would start in early January. New Harvest offers health benefits, parental leave, and unlimited PTO.
