Confluence Philanthropy’s Membership Program Director occupies a key leadership position with significant management, planning, and communications responsibilities. We are recruiting a dynamic, process-minded, and detail-oriented ‘servant-leader’ motivated by the idea of growing a cutting-edge organization, our next era of growth will rely upon this engaging individual to cultivate relationships, benchmark membership engagement, and organize groundbreaking events.
The Membership Program Director will work directly with the Vice President of Programs and CEO to strategize membership cultivation across multiple issue areas. We are looking for a motivated professional who will take charge of this position, making a minimum three-year commitment to the organization. Responsibilities
Membership Program Development and Execution (30% time): Collaborate with members to develop and provide membership programs around topics in investor education, shareholder engagement, best practices in governance, and timely membership initiatives. Manage steering committees and organize the production of retreats, webinars, other events, and member engagement activities. “Servant leadership” and strong social intelligence are required. Experience supporting groups of philanthropists or investors is a plus.
Annual Conference Leader (30% time annually): Play a significant role in organizing our annual conferences in collaboration with the full team. Responsibilities include curating and organizing a portfolio of conference sessions at our annual Practitioners Gathering, driving member participation, and managing events onsite. Prior conference organizing and volunteer management experience are required.
Member Engagement and Relationship Management (20% time via in-person, phone, and video calls): Confluence prides itself on being a vibrant, tight-knit community. Develop authentic relationships with members and partners to deepen the quality of our programming and enrich the membership experience. Work with the communications team to vision content curation for blogs, e-news, and other communications materials. The ability to build trust and easy rapport with a diverse group of actors is required. The ability to engage deeply in discussions about investing and/or philanthropy is required.
Membership Recruitment & Cultivation (15% time): Assist in membership recruitment and support membership cultivation and volunteerism across the program team. Experienced management, planning, and strong program development skills are required, and community organizing skills are a plus.
Evaluation and Impact Assessment (5% time): Assist in the annual review and assessment of membership programs by overseeing the collection of membership data and program metrics. Prior experience in publication content editing and production is required.

Reports to: Vice President of Programs Compensation: Full-time $120,000 - $128,000 salaried, plus highly competitive benefits
Staff Reports: 1-2 fractional direct reports
Hybrid Location: New York City Office – required minimum 3 days per week in office. The location is non-negotiable beyond the New York City region.
