    The Asclepius Initiative, Inc (TAI) is currently seeking a candidate for the role of Full Time Health Care Coverage Educator (HCCE) to provide health care coverage literacy education to identified sub-populations (Black, Spanish speaking, or rural) within the state via a grant awarded by the Kentucky Department of Public Health. The information being communicated is designed to help individuals obtain, retain, and utilize their health care coverage in ways that optimize their medical, emotional, and financial well-being. TAI has partnered with Federally Qualified Health Centers, community organizations and connectors, clinics, and health education organizations in pursuit of this goal.

    The HCCE will work with TAI’s Executive Director (ED), Communications Associate (CA), Project Manager (PM), and community partners to better understand values and goals of these sub-populations. In conjunction with feedback obtained, the HCCE will refine current and create new educational materials. Using a Train-the-Trainer model, the HCCE will then train the trainers and may also deliver information directly to public audiences at events organized by or facilitated by TAI and its partners.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • In concert with TAI’s partners, refine, develop, and deliver written, oral, and video educational materials on health care coverage options, criteria, and factors to consider when obtaining health care coverage for individuals and/or their families
    • Create modules on how potential policy changes will affect individual’s ability to obtain, retain, and utilize their health care coverage
    • Obtain, record, and disseminate feedback from TAI’s partners and learners as to the adequacy, understandability, and usefulness of the educational toolkit and materials. Implement changes in consultation with the team.
    • Prepare materials and presentations in such a way that they reflect cultural respect and understanding
    • Directly deliver education about how health insurance is structured and how this affects individual choices and their health
    • Build relationships with partners and their staff
    • Other duties as assigned

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Understanding of in person and online adult educational design and proven effectiveness in educational programs
    • Experience working with diverse populations
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking
    • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills; attention to detail
    • Ability to master complex subject matter
    • Proficient in MS word, PowerPoint
    • Ability to adjust communications based on knowledge (health care, literacy, numeracy) and educational level of the audience
    • Access to personal transportation for periodic travel in Kentucky

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Degree in related field, such as Public Health, Health Education or Community Health
    • Understanding of the US healthcare landscape
    • Professional experience in health care coverage sales or education
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish
    • Experience in non-profit work and grant operations
    • Experience with print and web communication

    This full time exempt salaried position is $55,000-$60,000, depending on education and years of professional experience. The grant runs through 5/31/2026. However, duration of employment may be extended if future funding is available.

    Job is primarily remote. However, the ability to conduct in person educational sessions in Louisville and other parts of Kentucky, as well as periodic travel to partner sites throughout Kentucky is required.
