The Bloomberg Portfolio

CPI has partnered with Bloomberg Philanthropies and related entities (e.g. Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation, Harvard Center for Cities) since 2018 to design and deliver programming that helps to equip public servants with innovation tools and mindsets to deliver better outcomes for residents.

Since 2018, this portfolio has trained more than 1,000 public servants in 90 cities across the world, helping public servants generate more than 25,000 ideas with residents to address pressing challenges in their local communities. Cities have gone on to design more than 300 prototypes and replicate the methodologies of the programming on more than 500 other priority initiatives. We are proud of this long-standing partnership and the ways in which we have been able to serve as a learning partner to governments around the world to explore new ways of working and collaborating. We are excited to grow our delivery team with this role and continue to expand our impact.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Associate who is an entrepreneurial self-starter with a passion for public sector impact and an interest in human-centered design and innovation. You will be staffed on our future Government Innovation portfolio and will serve as the lead “thinker and doer” on our monitoring, evaluation, and impact workstream. Your primary responsibility will entail managing and analyzing data across our 4+ programs and developing your insights into new frameworks, thought pieces, and programmatic offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager and in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Knowledge, Learning & Impact, the Associate will work collaboratively to devise and implement our monitoring, evaluation, and impact strategy. This includes…

• Developing data collection tools and systems and liaising with the portfolio's Senior Associates to manage and upkeep them.
• Conducting data analysis, including (1) qualitative interviews with programmatic staff, partners, and cities employees, (2) quantitative data from surveys (3) literature reviews on thought-pieces across the broader ecosystem.
• Evolving your observations into insights, frameworks, and further lines-of-inquiry to fuel our iterative learning approach
• Drafting presentations and developing workshops to communicate insights and enhance our offerings, alongside our program staff and partners. As you grow, you can expect to assume a more partner-facing role in delivering these presentations and workshops.
• Working in conjunction with our Communications & Impact team to develop thought-pieces and social media content
• Regularly engaging in feedback practices with managers and peers in an effort to upskill and grow within the portfolio

Skills & Qualifications:

• 0-3 years of demonstrated professional and/or academic excellence, including internships, senior theses, presentations/talks, or proven track record at a previous employer
• Academic and/or work experience in a relevant field (e.g., Impact evaluation, communications, government/public policy, social entrepreneurship, human-centered design or similar)
• Qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills, especially in translating observations into resonant stories and actionable insights
• Demonstrable knowledge of and passion for public impact, particularly at the local government level
• Exceptional project management skills and excitement to work in a fast-paced project environment
• Commitment to learning about and advancing DEIB within CPI and its broader partner and city ecosystems

Salary, Benefits, and How to Apply

The salary range for this role is $64,582-$73,882, mapped to years of experience and region. At the Centre for Public Impact, we are committed to countering pay inequality and recently completed a global compensation benchmarking process to ensure that we're paying our staff fairly and well for the roles that they hold and therefore, salaries at CPI are non-negotiable.
