    Oakland Kids First (OKF) increases youth voice, leadership, and power to create engaging and equitable public schools where all students learn and lead. OKF provides students with youth leadership development opportunities, organizing training and support, and wraparound community school services such as academic support, care management, workforce readiness, career exposure, enrichment, leadership development, and wellness programming.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Knight Time Program Manager plans, oversees, and manages integrated community school programs and services for students at Castlemont High School. We are looking for a detail-oriented community builder with the experience and demonstrated ability to help build an effective community schools model, support after-school programming, manage day-to-day operations and partnerships, be a resource for students, and build a strong after-school culture that meets daily attendance goals. This position is a full time, exempt, and salaried in-person role. This position supervises Knight Time program staff and is supervised by OKF’s Deputy Director.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Leadership & Management

    • Be a caring role model and resource for Castlemont students
    • Provide leadership for Oakland Kids First’s Knight Time After School Programs at Castlemont by supporting program staff, partner teachers, and other after-school providers
    • Oversee communication to all community partners and program facilitators about program planning, reports & evaluations, and required practices to maintain safe and engaging spaces for youth
    • Train all after school workers in positive youth development and curriculum development, and uphold standards for program quality through observations of programs, constructive feedback and coaching
    • Attend organizational and district meetings, and represent Oakland Kids First with stakeholders
    • Participate in Small Learning Communities meetings and align with Castlemont’s academic pathways
    • Hold an active role on the school’s Culture and Climate team to support campus-wide events, initiatives, and survey data collection and analysis.
    • Foster an environment that promotes teamwork and upholds the principles of Oakland Kids First and Castlemont High School’s Knight Way
    • Guide and participate in collaborative processes to improve community programs at Castlemont
    • Develop and maintain positive parent relations through regular, strategic communication about attendance, participation, and events

    Community Partnership Coordination

    • Develop and execute memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and ensure all partners providing services are operating in accordance with contract requirements
    • Communicate program expectations and coordinate schedules, spaces and administration with partners
    • Coordinate student internships with school Pathway Director, Work Based Liaison and community based partnership placements, and track youth stipend payments and documentation
    • Identify new community partners to host additional internships
    • Work with Site Coordinator, Work-Based Learning Liaison and Pathway Director to prepare students for on and off campus internships by developing and executing an on-boarding process for students
    • Work with Site Coordinator to hold program orientation and on-boarding for new partners

    Program Oversight & Compliance

    • Coordinate day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with grant requirements for OFCY and OUSD 21st Century providers including activity types, attendance and units of service requirements
    • Co-develop and maintain a schedule of academic, leadership and enrichment activities
    • Support OKF’s Farm and Garden Manager with oversight of community-based farm, garden, and orchard
    • Oversee systems of data collection for required documentation including enrollment forms, emergency cards, permission slips, attendance records, receipts, and evaluation tools
    • Include parents/guardians, teachers, and other stakeholders in program design, evaluation, etc.
    • Oversee facilities usage by completing room requests, custodial requests for after school programs
    • Collaborate with school and other program staff to design and implement a 2-4 week Summer Bridge Program for rising 9th grade students
    • Recruit for and facilitate the Knight Ambassador the after school student leadership program

    Fiscal Management, Fund Development and Contract Management

    • Work with OKF’s Deputy Director, Senior Development Manager and Executive Director to organize and prepare for site visits, grant reports and other fund development-related activities
    • Support OUSD Expanded Learning Office contract development and compliance paperwork
    • Collaborate with OKF’s Deputy Director to track expenditures and manage after-school budgets

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Preference given to candidates with direct experience coordinating and providing capacity-building to an after-school collaborative, or school-based committee with community partners.
    • At least 4 years of full-time work experience in youth development and program management.
    • Ability to collaborate with school administrators, teachers, staff, and community partners.
    • A detail-oriented person with experience in program evaluation and grant compliance.
    • Great communication and writing skills.
    • Required to have completed at least 48 semester college credits, 72 quarter college credits, or pass Alameda County’s Instructional Aide exam. Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • Experience working in high-need, urban environments
    • Passion for mentoring young people and utilizing positive youth development practices.

    • Position is exempt, full time, and functions on a year-round schedule
    • Starting salary range is $80,000-$87,000
    • Paid time off includes holidays, 3 restoration weeks, professional development, vacation, sick time, 3 personal days as well as family leave and sabbatical time that are dependent on length of employment
    • OKF covers 100% of benefits for full time employees including health, vision and dental insurance with an option to add dependents through partial employee cost sharing
    • Vanguard 403(b) retirement accounts are available to all employees, and OKF offers an employer match up to 3% of salary each pay period for those 25-40 hour weekly employees voluntarily contributing.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Oakland Kids First’s headquarters office is located at 3700 E. 12th St. in the Fruitvale district of Oakland, CA. This position requires in-person work at Castlemont High School at 8601 MacArthur Blvd. Position requires frequent movement across a large high school campus, lifting boxes, transporting program materials, and typing.
