    Position Title: Director of Donor Relations

    Status: Full-time, salary, accrues paid time off.

    Rate of pay: $75,000 - 95,000 annually

    Reports directly to: Chief Philanthropy Officer

    Hours: Regular business hours, Monday- Friday. Standard office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Shifts may vary slightly to support team needs. Position will be required to work occasional weekend and evening hours to support stewardship, community engagement, and fundraising events.

    Position Description: The Director of Donor Relations will join a high-performing Development team under the oversight of the Chief Philanthropy Officer to develop and execute fundraising strategies specific to major donors and deepen partnerships within the business sector. This position is primarily responsible for managing a portfolio of donors and corporate partners, cultivating and soliciting contributions in support of Greentrike, and identifying strategies to proactively attract and retain individual and corporate gifts. The Director of Donor Relations will be adept in cultivation and stewardship activities related to non-profit fundraising and relationship management with a focus on growing philanthropic giving and connecting with businesses. Emphasis is placed upon personal contact with donors and prospects through engagement points such as visits, tours, events, and personal correspondence. This position requires high levels of organization and excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to remain professional and confidential.

    Major Gifts (50%):

    • Maintain an annual portfolio of 75-major donors and prospects with an emphasis on identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding to invest in Greentrike’s mission and vision
    • Develop and create individual giving plans to establish annual goals, objectives, and moves management strategies to cultivate, retain, renew, and upgrade annual giving with the CEO and Chief of Philanthropy Officer
    • Participates in timely contact reporting, updates on donor interactions, and assessing progress metrics toward goals with the Chief Philanthropy Officer on a regular basis and recording stewardship activities in donor database software
    • Collaboration in building a successful portfolio of prospects, understanding of various planned giving models, and thorough working knowledge of annual giving programs that will lead to major gift success
    • Attend and assist with all Greentrike fundraising events and provide support for the team before, during, and after events to ensure success and stewardship
    • Executes special campaigns, initiatives, events, and other duties as assigned
    • Work alongside the Development and Communication team to incorporate Donor Centric and Community-Centric Fundraising Principles into fundraising efforts, recognizing that this will take time and continue to evolve

    Stewardship & Community Outreach (25%):

    • Maintain and set up face-to-face meetings, tours, and regularly correspond with donors to build relationships and discuss mission giving support opportunities
    • Collaborate with staff to identify and ensure consistent and meaningful communications such as program updates, reports, talking points, stories of impact, and on-brand touchpoints are implemented in individual giving plans
    • Conceptualize and create annual Donor appreciation event(s) responsible for increasing engagement and gratitude messages in coordination with the Development team
    • Develop and communicate a compelling case, personalized for each donor or prospective donor, providing the motivating reason for the donor or organization to support Greentrike
    • Attend various community events representing Greentrike, providing a public-facing presence and leadership in networking and community spaces

    Corporate Relations (20%):

    • Develop, maintain, and provide logistical support for corporate giving strategies to acquire and retain corporate partners by collaborating with the Grants, Events, and Volunteer Managers to increase and strengthen corporate partnerships through volunteering, event and program sponsorship, and in-kind donations
    • Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit businesses and organizations to become corporate partners by securing annual support, providing stewardship, and monitoring benefit fulfillment
    • Work in tandem with the Communications team to highlight corporate partner activities in Greentrike communications

    General Administrative Duties for the Development Team (5%):

    • Develop and maintain the annual development budget alongside the Chief Philanthropy Officer
    • Support Greentrike by being a resource for ideas and a conduit for cross-team communication
    • Perform administrative duties including answering phones, filing, copying, sorting, mail processing, house parent responsibilities, etc.
    • Member of the Greentrike Management and Director cohort

    Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

    • Ability to inspire, positively influence, and engage donors
    • Excellent time management and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and deliver quick turnaround in an environment demanding high energy, attention to accuracy and detail, discretion, flexibility, and superior work
    • Strong writing, editing, analytic, and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner, to tactfully handle stressful situations, and negotiate and resolve conflicts while observing organizational protocols
    • Demonstrated customer service skills with exceptional relationship management skills
    • Collaborative working style: the ability to work collegially as a member of a team to ensure coordinated and efficient workflow as well as forge and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of representatives of public and private organizations, Board members, volunteers, vendors, and the general public
    • Ability to be an innovative and resourceful problem-solver, eager to take initiative to handle requests, proactively anticipate needs, and resolve issues quickly with minimal supervision
    • Experience with data entry and data management; expertise with Salesforce a plus
    • Familiarity with a range of digital fundraising tools (giving forms, prospects research tools, etc.) is advantageous
    • Excellent use of Windows-based software (Word, Excel, Publisher) with proficiency in mail merge and current business correspondence norms and familiarity with Google Suite (email, documents, calendar)
    • Keen aesthetic sense, with the ability to implement Greentrike’s brand throughout all work with polish

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Three to five years of experience in a resource development role, with demonstrated success in major gift fundraising and corporate relations. Experience in nonprofit preferred. Experience with the Pierce County philanthropic community preferred.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience
    • 2 years experience in customer relations management systems preferred
    • Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license, be willing to travel within Washington State, and have access to reliable transportation with automobile insurance
