    Ballard Food Bank’s mission is to bring food and hope to our neighbors because there can be enough for everyone. To achieve our mission, we provide access to nutritious foods through our grocery model food bank and Community Resource Hub, which encompasses financial resources, referral, and mail services that support self-sufficiency. We also advocate for food equity and justice. Our home, which opened in October 2021, serves as a Hub for Hope as it brings together food, services, and community partners in a one-stop shop.     This position is an important part of the Development/Communications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily execution of gift processing, data entry and clean-up, gift acknowledgment and other tasks to support donor relations. This position is a key part of the development and communication’s team’s efforts to build broad philanthropic support of our mission, cultivate, solicit, and steward our donor base, and position the organization for our future growth, success, and long-term sustainability as we build out initiatives to serve our neighbors.

    The Development Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Development and Communications and will work closely with development/communications team members, program staff, and the leadership team. This position is based primarily on-site at Ballard Food Bank (BFB), typically M-F, with some flexible scheduling.

    Responsibilities:

    The position’s primary responsibility is to manage the donor database, Little Green Light, including:

    • Process donor gifts from a variety of sources and online platforms
    • Enter checks and bank deposits into batches
    • Manage the donor acknowledgment process for all gifts
    • Run reports and lists for gift acknowledgment and donor gratitude
    • Update constituent records, clean up the database, to maximize efficiencies in data reporting
    • Provide exceptional customer service to donors regarding receipts and other gift-related questions
    • This position will also work with the team to extract and analyze data from the database to maximize fundraising potential
    • Create reports to analyze current appeals and strategies
    • Create reports that analyze donor acquisition rates, renewal rates, donation frequency, and giving channels
    • Support finance staff by helping with audits, reports, and financial reconciliation
    • Do prospect research to support fundraising efforts
    • Additionally, this position will participate in supporting the development and communications efforts of the organization, including:
      • Assisting in the execution of BFB’s fundraising events
      • Contributing to overall communications efforts including printed, monthly email, and digital media efforts
    • This position will also have some administrative responsibilities for the organization, including assisting the leadership team with scheduling and preparing meeting materials
    • Other duties as assigned

    Skills/Qualifications:

    We seek a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who can work as well with a team as they can independently, in a complex and fast-paced environment. An ideal candidate will have:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • A passion for our mission and a high level of commitment, motivation, and dedication
    • Highly reliable, with initiative, flexibility, and positive attitude
    • Commitment to racial equity and social justice
    • At least 2 years’ experience with data entry or managing a database
    • Preferred experience working in a non-profit work environment
    • Ability to complete a large volume of data entry, while maintaining a high standard of accuracy
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting to accomplish fundraising objectives
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and organize responsibilities to effectively address multiple simultaneous projects and manage deadlines.
    • Demonstrated computer skills; expertise with MS Office suite, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Physical demands and work environment:

    • Be required to be onsite at Ballard Food Bank several days per week but may work remotely for part of the work week.
    • Engage in regular communication with internal and external individuals and groups—written and verbally, sometimes in person and sometimes virtually.
    • Routinely sit/stand at a laptop/computer; keyboarding.

    Compensación

    The starting hourly wage for this position is $35.00. Ballard Food Bank provides a comprehensive benefits package including but not restricted to: Medical, dental and vision benefits; employer-matched Simple IRA; paid vacation, wellness time, Flexible Spending Account, and holidays. The food bank has a 35-hour work week.
