Graphic Designer

Overview:

We are hiring a skilled graphic designer to bring this fight to the next level.

We do not go along to get along. We do not sit in K Street cubicles circulating coalition letters. We do not climb the Beltway ladder, pining for a job someday at Brookings.

We take action. We get results. We make life miserable for people in power. And we do not apolozige.

We played a prominent role in halting drilling on tens of millions of acres. We helped win a pause on fracked gas exports. We've made executives in the highest levels of business and government resign in shame from their positions of power.

We are gearing up to stop the fossil-fueled oligarchy overtakign our government. We are looking for the ideal graphic designer to play a role in making this possible.

Remote (large city preferred)

About You:

You are a talented graphic designer with a sharp eye for aesthetics and a honed understanding of typography, color, and form. You have great taste and a honed attunement to visual culture.

You can thrive without handholding.

You do not just do what is asked of you, you figure out what is helpful.

Required qualifications:

Either a B.A. in graphic design (highly preferred) or minimum 4 years professional experience as a full time graphic designer

Expert skill in typography

Expert in Adobe Suite (Ps, Ai, Lr)

Proficient in Figma

Proficient in digital illustration

Your portfolio demonstrates excellent graphic design skills across a range of formats and genres

Organized, great communicator, and always hit your deadlines

Aligned with Climate Defiance’s mission and highly motivated to fight for this cause

Preferred qualifications

Photoediting skill

Experience using Instagram or other social media platforms

Bonus qualifications

Copywriting skill

Web design skill

Animation skill

Video editing skill

Masters in design / visual art

Additional details:

You will work under the supervision of our Art Director and Communications Team to create compelling visuals. You will use CD’s existing branding guides, but this work will also rely on your own creative ideas, and we will support your creative ideation. We seek someone with demonstrably strong typographic skills and a proficiency in digital illustration. You must be able to effectively manage visual assets, incorporate feedback processes, and deliver finished products on deadline.

This role is 20hr/week with the opportunity to go full time as things progress. 40 hr/week position could be available to candidates with the right combination of additional skills (such as video editing, animation, and other forms of content creation).

Pay & Benefits

Salary: $62,400 for full-time, $31,200 for half time (Note: Our organization adheres to a flat pay scale, ensuring equal compensation for all members. Stated otherwise, everyone has the same salary here.)

Vacation: Unlimited with 20 days encouraged (plus Christmas Week)
