Share Food Program (“Share”) is the leading hunger relief organization in the Greater Philadelphia region and one of the largest independent food banks in the nation. Food insecurity is a crisis in our communities. The ripple effects of the pandemic, record rates of inflation, and critical cuts to government assistance benefits have plunged even more people into hunger and poverty. Today, Share feeds hundreds of thousands individuals each month—more than half of whom are children and seniors.
Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Share Food Program, the Chief Development Officer leads a committed team of development professionals responsible for growing a comprehensive and sustainable fundraising program. The CDO develops and executes the fundraising strategy, securing and growing philanthropic partnerships, ensuring strong donor relations, implementing engagement initiatives, soliciting, and stewarding philanthropic gifts of all sizes. The CDO directs the team in developing annual operating goals and fundraising plans to achieve those goals. During the current “Campaign for Food Justice,” the CDO also serves as Campaign Director, overseeing all aspects of the multi-year capital campaign.
Core Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Supports the mission and work of Share Food Program to lead the fight against food insecurity in the Philadelphia region by serving an expansive, quality partner network of community-based organizations and school districts engaged in food distribution, education and advocacy.
Fundraising Leadership Responsibilities
Develops, leads, implements, and manages Share Food Program’s strategy to inspire and grow philanthropic support. The following specific duties are illustrative:
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication, exceptional interpersonal skills, strategic vision, ability to develop comprehensive fundraising strategies; proven track record with donor solicitation, grant writing, event management, and effective donor relations; demonstrated commitment to the Association of Fundraising Professionals code of ethics; strong management and supervisory skills; highly proficient technology skills including Microsoft Office software; strong affinity for leveraging the role of a CRM/donor database.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in nonprofit Development, including ongoing fundraising programs and capital campaigns. Comprehensive knowledge of fundraising and related operations. Some planned giving experience preferred. Experience in the human service sector preferred.

Annual Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000
