    Position Description

    The Contracts Manager is an experienced finance professional who supports the administration and management of government contracts. Currently there are multi-million contracts. The work includes preparing and monitoring various financial reports and budgets; monitoring transactions for compliance with local and state government contracts; preparing vouchers and reports for granting authorities.

    The Contracts Manager is a new position at CAF as we ramp up our ability to track and manage our government contracts. The Manager will work closely with staff leadership in operations, finance, and program to track progress and expenditures and ensure accurate reporting.

    Compensation

    • This position has a starting salary range of $78,374-$96,758, for a four-day work week. depending on experience and qualifications, as determined by CAF’s Compensation Philosophy Policy.

    Work schedule:

    • A full-time work week at CAF is defined as a minimum of 32 hours over four days. This may change in the future.
    • Illinois residence is required by the start of employment. Work is partially remote. A minimum of 1 day in the office, preferably 2 days. The office is in the west loop. This may change in the future.

    Essential Job Functions

    Finance (90%)

    • Process clinic invoices: receive invoices, investigate issues, reconcile, upload for payment, approve batch payment, and enter info into Airtable
    • Receive and approve accounts payable, code credit card expenses, upload for payment, approve batch payment
    • Update and reconcile complex financial and budgetary spreadsheets
    • Work with the Director of Operations and the accounting firm to improve processes and mitigate errors in recording and reporting of financial activities, encompassing the organization's commitment to excellence
    • Review expenditures and prepare reports for municipal grant compliance
    • Work with Director of Operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and expenditure control
    • Provide staff leaders with timely reviews of the financial status of government contracts and progress in their various programs and activities
    • Provide reports, records, and overall support during grant/project audits and annual organizational audits
    • Remain up to date on the latest trends, tools, and best practices
    • Perform other finance support assigned by Director of Operations.

    Other (10%)

    • Actively participate in required CAF meetings and respond in a timely manner to CAF staff communications
    • When required, participate in reproductive justice movement-building initiatives
    • Update professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities approved by CAF and professional organizations as relevant to the role
    • Participate in and maintain an organizational culture that fosters deep collaboration, trust, and coordination across functional areas
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Desired Attributes and/or experience

    • Commitment to reproductive justice and abortion access for all people
    • A minimum of four years of experience in bookkeeping
    • Previous experience with government contracts preferred
    • Demonstrate proficiency in accounting software, CRM databases, and Google Suite. Experience with QuickBooks and Airtable preferred.
    • Is highly detail- and systems-oriented. Experience maintaining accurate records
    • Can effectively manage ambiguity in a changing work environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to translate financial information into easy-to-follow communications for non-financial audiences
    • Ability to create and generate complex reports
    • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with appropriate levels of discretion
    • Outstanding analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills. Strong ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
    • Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptive, responsive, and able to make strategic decisions yet comfortable asking for support or help when needed
    • Ability to work equally well independently and as part of a collaborative team
