    Job Title: Director, Information Technology

    Department: Legal

    Reports to: Vice President, General Counsel and Chief of Staff

    Supervises: IT Applications Manager

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Location: Indianapolis, Indiana All staff located near a Lumina office work at least three days per week in the office.

    Salary Range: $152,000- $180,000

    Final pay is commensurate with experience.

    Purpose

    The Director of Information Technology oversees the Foundation’s computer and AV networks and equipment. The IT Director is responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s managed service providers, and effectively and efficiently delivering all third-party and internally managed IT applications used to support enterprise wide business processes and services, including technologies hosted on-premises or in the cloud.

    The Role

    Information Technology

    • Be available to provide Level 1 or Tier 1 support to internal users in need of basic assistance with network access, business applications access, or computer or AV equipment.
    • Oversee the functionality, stability, and security of the Foundation’s network, equipment, and applications. 
    • Implement the Foundation’s IT strategic plan, projects, and initiatives in coordination with the Foundation’s strategic priorities. 
    • Oversee and periodically audit the user and access rights and permissions on designated systems and applications. 
    • Ensure sound security protocols on the Foundation’s networks, equipment, and systems; oversee threat and vulnerability assessments against its systems.
    • Evaluate and assess external and internal technology capabilities required to achieve desired organizational priorities and industry best practices. 
    • Work with Foundation’s finance team to develop annual operating and capital budgets and manage IT expenditures. 
    • Work with legal department to develop and update policies and procedures that govern the Foundation’s IT activities and practices. 
    • Maintain a network of trusted advisors, consultants, and vendors to help assess the effectiveness of the Foundation’s IT service model and network, and who can provide advice on whether they are the most effective means to meet our changing business priorities. 
    • Establish and oversee an in-person and virtual platform that provides timely and actionable responses to user requests for assistance with equipment or applications. 
    • Maintain currency on new technologies and platforms — including artificial intelligence (AI) and edge computing — and provide direction on what emerging technologies should be assimilated, integrated, and introduced at the Foundation.
    • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, operation, and support of IT systems that fulfill the needs of the business, including the full life cycle of technical architecture, equipment, and IT service support.
    • Implement new technologies, techniques, and practices, such as Agile and service integration and management (SIAM), to ensure alignment with the organization’s change in priorities or strategies. 
    • Work with and oversee IT consultants and vendors engaged by the Foundation to manage applications or projects and meet with them regularly to ensure expected service levels are being met.
    • Oversee the software and hardware selection process.

    Supervision:

    • On-board new hires to ensure they have the introductions, resources, training, and productivity tools necessary to be effective as quickly as possible.
    • Provide guidance, direction, leadership, and support necessary to ensure employees succeed in performing their jobs, achieve their goals and develop.
    • Provide work assignments and mentoring opportunities to facilitate growth and development.
    • Write or update job descriptions and communicate job duties and expectations to employees.
    • Document job performance, provide constructive input and act to correct performance as needed.
    • Understand, communicate and apply organizational policies effectively and consistently.
    • Supervise employees in a manner that balances the employee interests with the expectations and needs of Lumina. 
    • Support professional and career development by discussing and documenting with direct reports their professional interests, strengths, and gaps.
    • Provide administrative oversight on expense, travel, grantmaking, contracting and other functional processes.

    Skills, Competencies, and Characteristics

    • Hands on experience and knowledge of information infrastructure technologies.
    • Hands on experience and knowledge of Microsoft platforms for network, server, client, collaboration, and business applications.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands
