    THE OPPORTUNITY

    AMREF USA seeks a skilled and reliable part-time Bookkeeper who will report to the Manager, Finance and Administration. The Bookkeeper will maintain financial records for AMREF USA. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing financial transactions, balancing accounts, creating financial reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. They will have experience with accounting software and strong organizational skills.

    THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT

    The US Finance and Administration department is a two-person team, with support from an outside Consultant.

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

    • Manage accounts payable cycle including invoice filing, payments and related AP journal entry.
    • Assist with the account receivable including batch review and upload from Raiser edge to Fund-ez accounting system.
    • Maintain vendor files and ensure accurate classification of vendors for Form 1099 purpose.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
    • Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements.
    • Assist with general ledger account reconciliation – payroll, inter-ledger and benefits payment.
    • Analyze financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets.
    • Prepare invoices and follow up with clients on payments.
    • Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
    • Assist with grant financial report and annual audit.
    • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations.
    • Assist with payroll processing and tax filings.
    • Communicate with clients and vendors regarding financial matters.

    WHO YOU ARE

    • You have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
    • You have 2+ years of bookkeeping experience
    • You are proficient in Fund-ez accounting software, QuickBooks, Blackboard
    • You have strong organizational and time management skills.
    • You have excellent attention to detail and accuracy and strong analytical skills.
    • You can work independently and as part of a team.
    • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • You have knowledge of financial regulations and best practices.
    • You have the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

    WORKPLACE and OTHER DETAILS

    This is a remote role in the United States. Preference for tri-state area.

    COMPENSATION

    This is a non-exempt, hourly position, not to exceed 30 hours per week. The hourly rate is in the range of $30.00-$35.00 based on experience and qualifications
