    Mirror Stage seeks a detail-oriented strategic thinker with strong written and verbal communications skills to join the team as Director of Marketing & Communications. This position will lead the development and implementation of campaigns designed to strengthen the financial resources necessary to increase visibility and awareness of Mirror Stage while sustaining growth. The Director of Marketing & Communications is broadly responsible for all marketing, public relations, and communication efforts promoting the organization’s goals and objectives in order to build grass-roots support within the community, build the Mirror Stage brand, develop audience, and maximize ticket sales and attendance at Mirror Stage events. This position coordinates media relations activities, including print and other advertising programs; as well as promotional, publicity and marketing programs. The Director of Marketing & Communications supervises the Content Marketing Manager.

    Although this is a mostly remote position, candidates must be based in the greater Seattle Metropolitan area. If you are not currently based in the Puget Sound region, you will not be considered.

    CATEGORY: Part-time, non-exempt

    COMPENSATION: $40/hr

    HOURS PER WEEK: 15-20 hrs/week

    REPORTS TO: Managing Artistic Director

    LOCATION: Mostly remote with some in-person meetings and events required

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    In collaboration with the Managing Artistic Director, Director of Operations & Production, Mirror Stage staff and board, the Director of Marketing & Communications will:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive and strategic marketing plan that effectively markets the organization and educates the public about Mirror Stage, maximizes the organization's combined marketing and resource development efforts, and ensures all events are planned to capture the attention of the public and the media.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive, targeted and sustainable communications and outreach plan that includes media relations, digital and print advertising, and social media.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of program sponsorship plans and activities;
    • Analyze data and report impact results.
    • Monitor ticket reports and implement action to maximize sales.
    • Maintain Mirror Stage brand across all programs and activities.
    • Create and implement Mirror Stage marketing and collateral materials, including annual report, event programs, e-newsletters, digital & print ads, posters, postcards, etc.
    • Manage relationships with graphic designers, photographers and other contracted talent as needed.
    • Supervise the Content Marketing Manager
    • Participate in long-term organizational planning

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum four to five years professional experience leading marketing and public relations, preferably in a mid-size arts nonprofit environment.
    • Passion for and dedication to Mirror Stage’s mission, vision and values
    • Ability to see, value, and adapt to cultural differences. Demonstrated and/or lived experience working with people of diverse ages, genders, sexualities, ethnicities, cultures, races, abilities, and socio-economic backgrounds, including those historically excluded by mainstream arts organizations
    • Detail-oriented, reliable, organized self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, impeccable attention to detail, and strong organizational skills, who is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from inception through execution.
    • Demonstrable creative problem-solving skills and experience building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse constituencies.
    • Tech savvy with high proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and Zoom. Comfort with online collaboration tools and virtual office environment. Familiarity and experience with Asana is not required, but helpful.
    • Comfortable working with and willingness to learn specialized database software. Proficiency with Salesforce and Click & Pledge Event Management experience a plus.
    • Must have access to reliable personal transportation, such as car or transit pass
    • Lived commitment to and investment in racial and social justice and anti-oppression analysis
    • Willingness to learn and work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
