    At Adamah Adventure Camp, the Assistant Camp Director will be responsible for assisting the Camp Director in overseeing camp operations, ensuring the safety and well-being of campers, and creating a fun and enriching environment for all campers and staff.

    During the summer season, this role will be 100% dedicated to summer camp. During the camp off-season, this will be a split role, with 60% of time dedicated to camp, and 40% time dedicated to other Pearlstone Program Team responsibilities, which may include facilitating programs for immersive, rental, and holiday retreats, general recruitment, and coordinating other signature programs.

    This is an in-person job, based at Pearlstone Retreat Center, outside of Baltimore, MD.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Program Coordination:

    • Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of the camp program, ensuring alignment with the camp's mission and goals.
    • Collaborate with specialists and counselors to organize and coordinate daily schedules and special events, including Theme Weeks, Jewish rituals, Shabbat Party, Spirit Days, and morning opening circles.
    • Coordinate and lead camp outreach events, camp fairs, and other promotional events in the off-season.

    Staff Supervision and Support:

    • Work alongside the Camp Director to train and supervise camp staff.
    • Provide support and guidance to staff members, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Support staff with team building, conflict resolution, and assist with staff evaluations and feedback.
    • Assist in conducting regular staff meetings to communicate expectations and address any concerns.

    Camper Safety and Well-being:

    • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure the well-being of campers and staff.
    • Address camper concerns and incidents promptly and effectively, fostering a positive and supportive community.

    Administrative Duties:

    • Assist the Camp Director with administration and communication logistics before, during, and after each camp session.
    • Assist in managing camper registrations, intake, and post-camp follow-up
    • Collaborate with the Camp Director on administrative tasks such as record-keeping, staff scheduling, maintaining accreditation and certifications, and communicating with parents.
    • Help create records and documentation for training, facilitation, and programs.

    Skills and Experience include:

    • Experience in program coordination, event planning, or curriculum development, preferably in a camp, youth, or educational setting.
    • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience training and supporting staff.
    • Ability to foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
    • Proficiency in team building and conflict resolution.
    • Experience conducting staff evaluations and providing constructive feedback.
    • Familiarity with camper safety protocols and the ability to handle incidents with discretion and care.
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including record-keeping, scheduling, and managing registrations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with staff, parents, and community members.
    • Experience coordinating or participating in outreach, promotional events, or community engagement efforts (e.g., camp fairs).
    • Comfort with or knowledge of Jewish traditions and culture is a plus (e.g., planning Shabbat Parties and Jewish rituals).

    General:

    • Attend and contribute to regular Camp team meetings, monthly all-staff meetings outside of the camp season, and quarterly divisional meetings.
    • Must possess a solid work ethic with strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent attention to detail, professional verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Other tasks/duties as assigned.

    Working Conditions:

    This is an exempt position with standard working hours from Monday to Friday. The role is designed to be in-person.

    90 Day Check In: Ninety days from the date of employment date, there will be a check in between you and your supervisor. Annually thereafter.

    The equivalent of 14-18 Federal and Jewish holidays, depending on where they fall each year, and an additional 15 personal vacation days per year, and 9 sick days.
