PFLAG National has over 550,000 members and supporters and over 350 chapters in the United States. This vast grassroots network is led by the Chief Executive Officer, and cultivated, resourced, and serviced by the PFLAG National staff, Board of Directors, and Regional Directors Council. Currently, PFLAG National has a staff capacity of 30 FTEs who reside in Washington DC and ten states; over half of these work fully remote from its headquarters. PFLAG National has a labor agreement with the OPEIU Local 2, AFL-CIO and has a favorable relationship with its employees.

    Position:

    PFLAG National is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance & Analytics Coordinator to support the financial administration and operation functions of the organization. In close collaboration with our Accounting & HR Manager, the Finance & Analytics Coordinator will conduct the day to day activities and tasks involved in maintaining the bookkeeping and financial reporting tasks of the Administration & Finance Department. This position involves working with staff and third parties, including vendors, in a collegial and professional manner.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a strong understanding of PFLAG National’s accounting, finance, budgeting, donor, and procurement policies and procedures, staying current as new policies and procedures are implemented.
    • Support day-to-day financial accounting operations, including accounts payable processing, revenue tracking, and general ledger maintenance.
    • Monitor and enter all activities related to accounts payables instilling accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation through every part of the process.
    • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all invoices with proper routing & coding, documentation, and appropriate approvals.
    • Record all incoming revenue, track outstanding receivables, and generate invoices in collaboration with program staff.
    • Prepare monthly reconciliations and analytical reports of all accounts as assigned, including credit cards and monthly close reports.
    • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial reports and spending analytics for the Senior Leadership Team.
    • Support programs by interpreting whether expenses are appropriate and allowable based on department budgets and our organizational financial policies.
    • Maintain a record of accounts receivable activities in financial systems and ensure adequate follow-up to secure payments.
    • Review employee credit card activity, reconcile to monthly statements, and record activity into the accounting system
    • Educate program staff on how to complete reimbursements, read analytical reports, and use the Administration & Finance Teams applications (Expensify, Bill.com, etc).
    • Assist with the preparation of vendor payments, maintain W-9 documentation for independent contractors, and assist with the preparation and mailing of tax filings (e.g., 1099s, W-2s, ACA compliance forms).
    • Maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality with all financial information, both internally and externally.
    • Assist with the annual budget preparation and the annual audit processes as needed
    • Complete special projects, research, and other tasks as assigned.

    Key Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    • At least two years of experience in a finance-related role.
    • Knowledge and understanding of a broad range of accounting policies and
    • procedures.
    • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Expensify, Asana, and Salesforce.
    • Direct experience working with budgets.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and have a collegial working style.
    • Knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion practices; and civil rights as a whole
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability working with remote employees
    • This is a hybrid position for staff based in the Washington, DC, or DMV area requiring 2 days per week in the DC office; and
    • Must be able and willing to travel as needed

    This position is not part of a bargaining unit.

    Salary: The salary range is $56,393-$67,060, commensurate with experience, expertise, and other qualifying factors.

    Position Type and Work Hours: This is a full-time role, typically Mon-Fri, 8 hours per day; must be able to work longer hours and on weekends as necessary. Occasional local and/or domestic travel. This is a hybrid position, requiring 2 days per week in the DC office.
