    SchoolHouse Connection (SHC) is a leading national non-profit organization working to overcome homelessness through education. We provide strategic advocacy and practical assistance in partnership with educators, service providers, youth, and families. We are seeking a compassionate and responsive Program Manager to support our Youth Leadership and Scholarship Program. In this role, you will provide intensive, individualized support to scholars who have experienced homelessness, guiding them as they pursue and persist in higher education.

    Key Responsibilities

    • One to One Scholar Support: Provide remote, personalized one-on-one support to 30-40 scholars nationwide, assisting with college admissions, FAFSA, campus and health referrals, and accessing resources for housing, food, and other basic needs.
    • Coordination: Collaborate weekly with YLS staff to coordinate scholar support, share insights, and ensure a unified approach to meeting their needs.
    • Trip Planning: Plan and coordinate logistics and programming for three annual scholar trips (four nights/five days), including travel arrangements, itineraries, and ensuring smooth operations and active scholar engagement.
    • Internal Presentation and Facilitation: Lead monthly Zoom calls with groups of scholars to build rapport, create space for connection, and deliver content in a clear and engaging way.
    • External Presentation and Facilitation: Present at conferences and webinars to share insights, best practices, and program outcomes, while collaborating with internal teams to amplify scholar voices and inform their work.
    • Data Collection and Evaluation: Record and maintain documentation of scholar interactions and services provided, regularly assess the effectiveness of support initiatives, and provide feedback to the YLS Director to improve program outcomes and align with scholar needs.

    Qualifications

    • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years in youth development, case management, or program management, with a focus on underserved populations. Experience working with students who have experienced homelessness is preferred but not required.
    • Skills: Proven ability to provide ethical, intensive support to youth and young adults. Strong attention to detail with demonstrated experience in coordinating trip planning logistics. Ability to thrive in a virtual environment, offering effective scholar support remotely.
    • Competencies: Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently while effectively supporting 30-40 scholars. Proficiency in virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Drive, Slack, etc.). Awareness and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds and experiences of scholars, with a commitment to inclusivity.
    • Ethical Standards: Commitment to the highest ethical standards and trauma-informed practices.
