Summary:
Foothill Unity Center, Inc. (FUCI) seeks a creative and detail-oriented Development and Marketing Associate to support our marketing, communications, and fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Development Director, this role plays a critical part in developing and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns, managing digital platforms, and coordinating donor communications to strengthen FUCI’s visibility, fundraising, and community engagement.
The ideal candidate will bring strong writing, design, and digital skills, a passion for community service, and a high level of emotional and professional intelligence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the mission and values of the organization are upheld and that the face of FUCI reflects compassion for all, integrity in practices, and professionalism overall
- Support the planning and execution of FUCI’s marketing calendar and strategies.
- Develop and manage digital content for all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube), including photo, video, graphic design, and written copy.
- Track and analyze digital metrics to evaluate impact and audience engagement.
- Design, produce, and distribute newsletters, e-blasts, flyers, and other promotional materials.
- Maintain FUCI’s website and events calendar, ensuring up-to-date content and consistent branding.
- Organize and maintain FUCI’s media and marketing library (photos, graphics, logos, event archives).
- Assist with donor communications, mailings, and acknowledgments.
- Prepare presentations and materials for funder meetings.
- Coordinate communications with the Board of Directors, media contacts, and third-party vendors (e.g., designers, printers, videographers).
- Help plan and support fundraising campaigns and special events (e.g., online auctions, restaurant nights, in-person drives).
- Take photographs and video footage at events to be used in future marketing and donor communications.
- Contribute to donor storytelling and impact reports, including articles and social media posts.
- Provide administrative support to the Development Director, including scheduling and note-taking.
- Assist in managing and supporting volunteers assigned to marketing or development tasks.
- Attend staff meetings and organizational events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory:
This position does not oversee staff.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
- AA degree or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in marketing, communications, or nonprofit development.
- Experience in community service or public-facing nonprofit work preferred.
- Familiarity with the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding communities.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, iMovie, or Premiere Pro).
- Experience with email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing and storytelling.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and emotional intelligence.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish, Chinese, or Vietnamese preferred.
- Ability to relate well with other people and demonstrate compassion and empathy.
- Ability to publicly advocate on behalf of Foothill Unity Center and the people it serves.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Work Environment:
- The work is typically performed in an office environment, with a moderate noise level.
- Some work will be performed in event spaces or outdoors.
- Occasional travel to company or client locations during the day and occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, and move as needed to complete requisite paperwork.
- Ability to commute to various client settings in the community, and to other FUCI locations.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. of employee and business files.
- Ability to work at a computer terminal for the bulk of the workload for this position.
