National Cathedral School seeks a full-time physical education teacher and a middle and upper school coach beginning August 14, 2025. The successful candidate can expect to teach Lower School physical education classes (grades 4-6) as well as coach three seasons of Middle School (grade 7-8) and Upper School sports (grades 9-12). The workday for this position is typically 9:30am to 6:00pm or later when coaching athletic competitions. Based on experience, the salary for this position ranges from $65,000-$140,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package along with support for professional development.
Teachers in the physical education department at NCS are committed to a student-centered pedagogy, skill development, and the positive benefits of experiences outside of the classroom. The successful candidate must be able to teach fundamental, age-appropriate motor skills and concepts combined with a variety of sport specific skills. NCS is looking for an enthusiastic and positive candidate with the experience and knowledge to support the Athletic Department’s goals. Qualified candidates hold a bachelor's degree (physical education, kinesiology, or nutrition and health preferred) and have pertinent teaching as well as playing and/or coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
All faculty are involved in the life of the school through a variety of means such as leading a club, coaching a sport, or serving on a committee. Additionally, community members attend school functions, including but not limited to chapel and cathedral services, assemblies, and special events.
