    Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. is one of the largest human services providers in California. The agency operates a variety of programs to serve the poor and strives to find permanent solutions to crisis situations by offering clients the tools and resources needed to achieve greater self-reliance and stability in their lives.

    Catholic Charities operates 18 community centers and 10 homeless shelters and also serves the poor with multi-faceted programs, including: after-school childcare; immigration, refugee, youth employment and psychological services; homework assistance and tutoring; English as a Second Language (ESL) and General Education diploma (GED) classes for adults; and services for homebound seniors and pregnant and parenting youth. In this way, Catholic Charities maintains a continuum of care for clients as they move from vulnerability to self-sufficiency.

    The Manager of Direct Mail and Database will report to the Chief Development and Communications Officer. The Catholic Charities corporate office is seeking an experienced, dedicated, ambitious Manager of Direct Mail and Database who will be responsible for a full range of tasks associated with operating the Development and Communications Department’s Raiser’s Edge NXT database, assisting with Direct Mail, Special Events and other department projects.

    This a full time, onsite position.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Operating Raiser’s Edge NXT donor database to post donations, prepare reports, and produce mailing lists for appeals and other mailings.
    • Coordinating all activities of the Joyful Givers' (Pledge) Program, including monthly reporting and maintenance of a list of current active donors.
    • Updating of the Direct Mail Sample Book, to include all information as stipulated on the cover sheet in the book.
    • Drafting of thank you letters for each direct mailing piece and preparation of individual thank you letters for major gifts
    • Interfacing with Accounting to ensure appropriate posting of donations.
    • Maintaining and updating all donor records both in database and in hard copy files.
    • Recording of all contributions in Raiser's Edge NXT database including direct mail, donor designations through payroll deductions, online donations, planned giving, major gifts, and corporate and foundation grants.
    • Reporting of financial success of each direct mail solicitation, tracking all revenue and expenses.
    • Preparing vehicle donation reports.
    • Identifying sources for donor acquisition, and prospective estate, trust and major gift donors.
    • Assisting in preparation for special events, such as Annual Golf Tournament and Christmas Gala.
    • Performing related duties as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge NXT software system and database
    • Three to five years of related experience in development and fundraising
    • Experience in a non-profit preferred
    • Ability to understand the basic fundraising principals and best practices
    • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
