Essential Responsibilities
The Development Manager position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborates with the Board of Directors. This role is responsible for day-to-day leadership of the development, fundraising, and donor relations. As a member of the leadership team, this role contributes to AWRC’s success in strategic development, operational execution, and mission impact.
The Development Manager's duties and responsibilities include:
- Responsible for planning, organization, and day-to-day oversight of the organization’s development, fundraising and marketing functions building up to over $500,000 within 3 years.
- Building relationships with current and prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to connect their giving to AWRC’s mission and funding objectives.
- Identifying, cultivating & soliciting corporate, foundation, workplace, individual (major giving and annual fund) and planned giving opportunities.
- Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising campaigns.
- Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission and giving impact to donors and the overall community.
- Ensures services are provided in a supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental manner that is sensitive to the patient’s and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights.
- Develops and publishes the development plan in collaboration with AWRC Leadership.
- Collaborates with the CEO and Chief Financial Officer to aggressively address the need for “GAP” funding according to the organization’s budget.
- Collaborates with CEO and grant writer on seeking grant opportunities.
- Build the planned giving program.
- Reports on the organization’s results for the Board of Directors as directed by the CEO.
- Completes required orientation and continuing competencies as required by policy and procedure.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred in communications, business administration, healthcare administration, not – for - profit management, organization leadership, accounting) and or a combination of education and 5 years’ experience in a comparable role.
- Proven experience in fundraising techniques including stewardship and solicitation of all types of gifts.
- Transparent, trustworthy, inspiring and high integrity leadership.
- Ability to lead assigned staff and contract resources.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Utmost discretion dealing with confidential information.
