    Comunidad is a Latino grassroots organization founded on Vashon Island and working in King and Pierce counties, with a presence in surrounding areas. Founded in 2009, Comunidad emerged from a collective desire to challenge systems that limit our potential. In 2015, we restructured to become a youth-centered organization, envisioning thriving Latino communities that embrace our culture, talents, and power to transform systems not designed for us. We actively seek those who haven’t been involved in mainstream ways, aiming to build a movement for community-led innovation and joy.

    Description

    The Finance and Grants Manager will play a crucial role in managing Comunidad's financial tracking and reporting, ensuring the organization’s financial health, and maintaining compliance with grant requirements. This position requires someone with a strong attention to detail, a deep understanding of financial management, and a passion for supporting community-led initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Management & Reporting:

    • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, and financial tracking.
    • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal use and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to maintain accurate financial records.
    • Bookkeeping - Maintain Quickbooks transactions and bank reconciliations
    • Prepare financial reports for board meetings working with the Board Treasurer.

    Grants Management:

    • Oversee the financial aspects of grant lifecycle, from application to reporting, ensuring all deadlines are met.
    • Work closely with program staff to develop budgets for grant proposals and track expenses against grant budgets.
    • Work closely with program manager, attend occasional meetings and maintain needed communication.
    • Maintain compliance for restricted grants.
    • Prepare detailed financial reports for funders, ensuring all grant requirements are met.
    • Monitor and report on the financial performance of grants, identifying any potential issues.

    Budgeting & Forecasting:

    • Assist in the development of the organization’s annual budget and long-term financial planning.
    • Provide regular updates on financial performance and forecasts to the Leadership Team.
    • Support program staff in understanding and managing their project budgets.

    Compliance, Taxes, & Audit Preparation:

    • Ensure all financial activities comply with organizational policies and procedures.
    • Prepare for and assist with audits, ensuring all required documentation is available and accurate.
    • Maintain and update financial policies and procedures as needed.
    • Form 990 and 1099 Preparation.
    • Maintain good standing with state and federal agencies, submit annual reports, renew licenses, and maintain accounts.

    Assist Co-ED in Creating and maintaining operational structures and systems; HR, Payroll, and Operations:

    • Assist in managing Human Resources with consultant’s support.
    • Assist in managing payroll, onboarding and off boarding.
    • Assist in managing and update personnel policies.
    • Assist in connecting with staff .

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Proven experience in financial management, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
    • Strong understanding of grant management and compliance.
    • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.). EveryAction and Quick books also preferred
    • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
