    About the Opportunity:

    Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of the organization’s financial operations. With the use of GAAP, they will perform various complex accounting activities and financial analysis, including, but not limited to, budget development; fiscal interpretation and analysis; preparing financial reports; performing account reconciliations; and various accounting duties. They will oversee the full cycle of bookkeeping, payroll, and grant reporting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense allocations, and the monthly close.

    What You’ll Do:

    Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for, but not exclusive to the following:

    Accounting Operations

    • Audit and Compliance:
      • Organize and maintain audit schedules (balance sheet & income statement).
      • Support annual audit and 990 reports by adhering to organizational accounting policies and procedures throughout the year and by providing the Audit firm with the required reports and backup.
      • Ensure timely compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
    • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
      • Work independently to process accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely manner.
      • Manage vendor relationships, including tax exemption requests and dispute resolutions.
      • Gathering of W9’s and appropriately tracking vendors for 1099 status.
    • Financial Records Management:
      • Maintain and secure financial records in accordance with GAAP.
      • Enter payroll journal entries and allocation journal entries.
      • Assist in the management and maintenance of financial software systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Bill.com).
    • Month-End and Year-End Close:
      • Complete month-close process, including bank reconciliations and reporting entries.
      • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

    Operations Support

    • Policy and Procedures:
      • Help the team maintain efficient and effective accounting and financial management infrastructure including policies, processes, procedures and internal controls.
      • Prepare and recommend accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.
    • Financial Analysis:
      • Monitor, analyze, and interpret financial trends to support effective decision-making, identify areas for improvement, and ensure the organization’s financial sustainability.
      • Work with the team to prepare the organizational, program and grant budgets based on budget performance and cash flow.
    • Special Projects and Support:
      • Provide backup support in areas like cost reallocation and compliance.
      • Assist with managing various requirements such as license renewals, lobbying expense reporting, sales tax refund claims, etc.
      • Other special projects and responsibilities as assigned, while meeting tight deadlines and prioritize accordingly.
      • Be the liaison of the Finance team and work collaboratively with a variety of personalities.
      • Attend organizational events as requested.

    The Senior Accountant will also assist with ad hoc projects and tasks as required to support the finance team and overall business needs.

    Compensación

    Salary is between$74,000 to $78,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The comprehensive benefits package includes generous paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as a 403(b) plan.

    To uphold organizational parity and pay equity, AAF will use a non-negotiable salary structure that takes into consideration the entire breadth of a candidate’s experience, employment, and education to arrive at their base salary.

    Salary is between$74,000 to $78,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The comprehensive benefits package includes generous paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as a 403(b) plan.
