    About the Cambridge Women’s Center

    Founded in 1971, the Cambridge Women’s Center (CWC) is the oldest continuously running community center for women in the United States. The CWC provides a supportive community space for women, offering opportunities for healing, support, learning, and solidarity.

    Part-time Bookkeeper

    The Cambridge Women’s Center seeks a part-time, contract bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. This role reports to and works closely with the Treasurer. This is a mostly on-site position. We expect this role to require 3-5 hours per week and are open to a biweekly schedule if preferred.

    Rate: $30-$45/hour depending on experience

    Responsibilities:

    A/P and Expense Management

    • Working with Treasurer to ensure timely and accurate AP bill-paying
    • Managing accounts payable, categorizing transactions, preparing weekly check runs, and problem-solving w/ vendors as necessary
    • Alerting the Treasurer to any cash-flow or other financial issues
    • Matching credit card statements to receipts, following up w/ staff as needed, and categorizing expenses appropriately
    • Tracking expenses against grant/contract restrictions and reporting out
    • Prepare journal entries as needed to allocate charges to appropriate accounts

    Revenue Tracking

    • Tracking all revenue in QBO, working with Treasurer to ensure accuracy
    • Maintaining accurate records of all funds received to support an external audit
    • Communicating with the Treasurer about funds received
    • Reconciling financial records in QBO against development records monthly

    Reconciliations and Reporting

    • Preparing monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and related internal reports
    • Assisting the Treasurer with the management of service contracts and similar
    • Creating cash-flow projections and other financial reports, as needed
    • Managing an annual external audit/financial review

    Other

    • Recommending process improvements as needed
    • Performing administrative tasks including maintaining vendor and other financial records

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years relevant experience
    • 1+ year experience in a nonprofit including experience w/ external audit/financial review
    • Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Excel
    • Solid grasp of general accounting principles
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
