    Outlast Arts and Education, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering Indigenous and Black youth through media arts and education, is seeking a Grant Writer & Researcher to secure sustainable funding for our growing programs. This role is essential to Outlast’s long-term financial health and expansion.

    About Outlast Arts and Education

    For nearly a decade, Outlast has provided transformative arts education to Indigenous and Black youth in South Dakota, equipping them with creative, academic, and professional skills. As we expand our impact, we are seeking a dedicated professional to help us secure long-term funding, cultivate relationships with major donors, and diversify our revenue streams.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Grant Research & Prospecting: Identify and evaluate federal, state, and private funding opportunities.
    • Proposal Development & Submission: Write compelling, data-driven grant applications and ensure timely submissions.
    • Donor Relations & Stewardship: Cultivate relationships with foundations, corporate sponsors, and individual donors.
    • Strategic Fundraising Planning: Collaborate with leadership to develop a long-term funding strategy.
    • Grant Management & Reporting: Track deadlines, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
    • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with program staff to align funding proposals with Outlast’s mission and goals.

    Expected Outcomes

    • Secure at least $150,000 in new funding (grants, pledges, sponsorships, or donations) by January 2026.
    • Submit at least eight high-quality grant proposals by January 2026.
    • Maintain current grants
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive grant and donor pipeline for sustainable funding.
    • Assist in planning and executing Outlast’s 10th Anniversary and Fall fundraising campaigns.
    • Strengthen donor engagement through regular communication, reports, and impact storytelling.
    • Develop and maintain a system for tracking all grant transactions and a potential funding list with deadlines and pertinent data.

    Who You Are

    • A skilled grant writer with proven success in securing funding.
    • A strategic thinker who can identify and pursue new funding opportunities.
    • A strong communicator who can build and maintain donor relationships.
    • Detail-oriented and organized, with experience in grant tracking, reporting, and budgeting.
    • Passionate about arts education and equity for Indigenous and Black youth.

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years working for a nonprofit in a leadership role, with proven experience in grant writing and researching.
    • Prior Experience working at non-profits on behalf of marginalized people is a plus.
    • Strong communication, writing, editing, and research skills with a track record of obtaining grants.
    • Experience cultivating relationships with funders, donors, and stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising strategies and best practices.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team.
