    WELCOME.US

Welcome.US is a national initiative built to inspire, mobilize, and empower Americans and American institutions from all corners of the country to welcome and support those seeking refuge here. We unleash the power and potential of America’s greatest strengths—its institutions of civil society, the innovations of its private sector, and the compassion and ingenuity of the American people—to build our national capacity and strengthen our national commitment to welcoming newcomers. Over the last three years, in partnership with over 400 private and civic sector partners and Americans all over the country, we have deployed policy, program, and technology innovations that mobilized over 2 million Americans to welcome nearly 800,000 newcomers in 17,000 zip codes across all 50 states, four times more than the U.S. government admitted through its publicly-funded, traditional refugee resettlement program over the same period of time.

This innovative approach is transforming our national resettlement system for newcomers in need of safety, welcoming refugee newcomers in ways that are safe, legal, orderly, and at scale; provide the support newcomers and communities need to thrive together; reduce political friction and strengthen cross-divide bonds in our communities; preserve human dignity and enable human potential; and provide the talent our communities and economy need to thrive. It’s a powerful testament to the shared humanity that transcends borders, cultures, and differences, and a powerful testament to what happens when the private and civic sector and our communities are unleashed to address even the toughest global challenges. Welcome.US is currently a project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.

    Community Partnerships Manager

Welcome.US is seeking a passionate and skilled Community Partnerships Manager to lead efforts in building, nurturing, and sustaining strong relationships with local organizations that are actively engaged in welcoming newcomers. This role will involve working closely with a wide range of local, regional, and national partners to foster meaningful collaborations. The Community Partnerships Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the Welcome Fund, the philanthropic arm of Welcome.US, and its mission to inspire Americans to welcome and support newcomers in their communities.

    Responsibilities will include:

    1. Managing Community Partnerships
    • Cultivate and actively maintain relationships with grantees and key stakeholders nationwide whose work aligns with and advances the Fund’s goals.
    • Partner with grantees to strengthen their capacity, offering tailored guidance and sharing insights, resources, and best practices that help them achieve their objectives.
    • Foster collaboration by connecting grantees with internal teams and external partners, creating opportunities for peer learning, resource sharing, and potential partnerships.
    • Identify and amplify compelling stories from grantee organizations to highlight the value and impact of welcoming newcomers.
    1. Grantmaking
    • Serve as a liaison to grantseeking organizations.
    • Ensure that organizations submitting proposals are well-informed of the Fund’s grantmaking process and requirements, promoting transparency and trust in the Fund’s decision-making.
    • Review and assess grant proposals submitted by community organizations, ensuring alignment with the Fund’s mission and priorities.
    • Prepare grant recommendations for the Welcome Fund Advisory Committee.
    1. Evaluation & Knowledge Sharing
    • Identify programs for research and evaluation that can help understand the effectiveness and impact of community-based initiatives.
    • Capture lessons learned from grantees and program outcomes, and share insights with relevant audiences (e.g. community groups, funders, state refugee coordinators) to drive continuous improvement and amplify what we’ve learned.
    1. Fundraising Support
    • Contribute to fundraising efforts by identifying funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals, and delivering presentations to potential funders.
    1. Stay Informed of Newcomer Landscape
    • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the resettlement landscape, including public policies, programmatic trends, and service gaps.
    • Engage in ongoing discussions with experts and local officials to ensure the Fund’s efforts are informed by the latest developments and best practices.
    • Assess and track the evolving needs of newcomers, particularly those that arrived via sponsorship and humanitarian pathways.
    1. Collaboration & Reporting
    • Work closely with colleagues across Welcome.US, and other partner organizations to ensure effective coordination, accountability, and reporting of progress and outcomes.
    • Regularly report on partnership development, funding allocations, and program impact to the Welcome Fund Advisory Committee and leadership team.

    Qualifications:

    • 4+ years experience in community engagement; plus volunteer management, grantmaking and/or refugee resettlement work are also an asset
    • Some experience with development/fundraising
    • Direct experience in mobilizing and engaging volunteers and cross-sector collaboration
    • Strong writing skills
    • Excellent relationship building skills
    • Knowledge of current issues impacting newcomers and the resettlement infrastructure
    • Ability to synthesize findings and share lessons learned
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Able to manage workload and workflow within established timetable and deadlines. Use constructive approaches to solve any issues or problems identified with the work assigned
    • A solution-oriented approach to work, with demonstrated creativity, adaptability and emphasis on deep collaboration with colleagues at all levels within the organization
