    The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) is a Washington, DC-based think tank that helps policymakers work across the aisle to craft bipartisan solutions.     In support of BPC’s mission, organizational strategy, and priorities, the BPC Development Team leads, executes, and tracks all of BPC’s external fundraising and revenue generation, and stewards funding relationships.

    Instilling a culture of fundraising, business development, and donor stewardship throughout the organization, the development team identifies, builds, and maintains donor relationships; ensures fundraising efforts align with BPC’s strategy; exemplifies cross-organizational collaboration; meets fundraising targets and achieves excellence.

    As a development team, we will:

    • Leverage all BPC networks to represent the organization positively and professionally in development and engagement efforts.
    • Increase, diversify, and sustain BPC’s donor base that supports an enterprise-wide strategy for revenue generation and sustainability; assess impact; and meet milestones to revenue growth.
    • Work closely with program teams to develop strategies for engagement with new funders.
    • Establish, operate, and monitor effective fundraising systems and ensure data integrity via donor data tracking, donor reports, and donor recognition.
    • With finance, strategy, and leadership colleagues, develop external revenue projections.
    • Achieve high standards of performance in project planning, use of systems, tools, and resources, and a working environment conducive to teamwork, continuous learning, and innovation.

    We are seeking a talented and creative Development Assistant to join our team and contribute to our growth and success. The Assistant will serve as the key administrative lead for the organization’s dynamic Development Team. The ideal applicant will be a self-starter with excellent attention to detail and time management skills, and familiarity with the fundraising process.

    Responsibilities

    80% of time

    • Provide primary administrative and clerical support for the Development team, including the planning, coordination, and execution of meetings and events (e.g., coordinating calendars, preparing materials, taking and distributing notes, and coordinating follow-up activities)
    • Assist in maintaining Development records including constituent information in the CRM system and team files in SharePoint
    • Assist with donor correspondence including donation acknowledgments and fundraising outreach on behalf of the Manager Director and the Development team
    • Conduct and compile research on current and prospective donors, including creating briefing materials for BPC’s senior executives 20% of time
    • Assist team in keeping up with the latest fundraising industry best practices by regularly reading relevant magazines, attending webinars and absorbing other materials to share
    • Administrative support for the Managing Director

    Qualifications

    • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in fundraising, communications or administrative role at a nonprofit or political organization
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of or willingness to learn Microsoft Dynamics and Salesforce
    • Familiarity with fundraising processes and tools, including CRM software and wealth screening software
    • Demonstrated ability to conduct research, compile findings and synthesize information for a lay audience
    • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; ability to drive projects independently and collaborate with a team
    • Proven organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive donor, political, and organizational strategy information
    • Commitment to BPC’s mission and ability to translate that passion into compelling written communications for donors and stakeholders
    • Previous scheduling experience is preferred

    Work Schedule

    The work/life balance of employees is a priority for the Bipartisan Policy Center. As a result, BPC is currently operating on a hybrid schedule. Employees at BPC are currently coming into the office three times a week. Exact time and schedules will be determined between an employee and their manager.

    BPC offers comprehensive health insurance benefits with a choice of open access HMO, POS, or PPO plan. HMO and POS individual plans have a monthly premium cost share of 10%. Dependent and Family HMO and POS plans are offered with a monthly cost share equal to 20% of the difference between the plan premium and the individual HMO monthly premium. PPO plans are offered with a 20% premium cost-share for all plans.

    Additional benefits include 403(b) matching contributions of up to 7% of salary in addition to a non-elective contribution of 2% of salary (both after 90 days of employment); 15 vacation days, 2 personal days, 15 sick days, and 12 holidays per year; education benefits up to $5,250 per year after one year of employment; $2,000 for professional development expenses after six months of employment; Metro benefits of up to $130 per month; Company provided life insurance; and dental and vision insurance coverage with a Flexible Spending Plan.

    We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $53,000. At BPC, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs.
