    Nurturely is seeking an experienced, driven Deputy Director who will:

    1. Build, manage, and evaluate all Nurturely team members and departments
    2. Manage the implementation of fundraising, creative, and research goals and the funding mechanisms necessary for sustainability of these new departments
    3. Implement the day-to-day management of all aspects of Nurturely’s operations

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Equity & Inclusion (always)

    • Prioritize intersectionality, equity, and inclusion as central components of all activities during work hours and outside of work hours
    • Be a leader in Nurturely’s ongoing anti-racism journey, including our monthly Deconstructing Oppression in Perinatal Care and Beyond roundtable discussions
    • Cultivate meaningful relationships with diverse sectors of the community, focusing on communities that have been systematically excluded
    • Prioritize intersectionality, equity, and inclusion as central components of all internal operations and community-based programs
    • Build and support a thriving, multicultural, and intersectional team

    Team Management, Mentorship and Support (25% of time)

    • Drive excellence in all aspects of Nurturely’s team impact, from the grassroots in-person programming to our national courses for healthcare providers
    • Offer regular feedback, mentorship, and support to team members, encouraging open communication and a collaborative work environment
    • Address challenges proactively, ensuring that all team members feel valued and motivated.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning, providing opportunities for professional development and growth.
    • Create cohesion across developing departments and ensure a high level of positive communication and collaboration across different teams
    • Above all, ensure a high commitment to equity and inclusion across all individuals and teams.

    Fundraising & Program Revenue (25% of time)

    • Drive excellence in programming, with clear documentation of successes and storytelling strategies to leverage programs for earned income and donor contributions
    • Develop Nurturely’s Program Income Potential: Cultivate a high ROI system for selling and marketing Nurturely’s high impact educational curricula. Establish and nurture relationships with prospective buyers.
    • Manage communications infrastructure, including executing compelling communications campaigns to support the goals of all fundraising strategies and expand Nurturely’s mission and impact
    • Talent Acquisition and Development: Recruit a diverse, talented Development and Communications team, including working with the Executive Director to ensure the success of fundraising campaigns.
    • Manage creative/communications department to support fundraising goals

    Research & Programs Capacity Building (25% of time)

    • Research Excellence: Develop organizational research excellence by building a rigorous academic research team, following compliance standards, and sharing Nurturely’s innovative line of research
    • Research Management: Manage the lifecycle of funded research projects, from conceptualization through to publication and dissemination. Demonstrate commitment to research justice frameworks and ongoing improvement in the approach to community participatory methods, maintaining positive, reciprocal relationships with all community partners and stakeholders
    • Research to Community Translation: Ensure a high level of cohesion and translation between Research Department and Programs Department to maximize community impact of Nurturely’s research.
    • Mentorship and Support: Offer regular feedback, mentorship, and support to all team members across the Research and Programs teams, encouraging open communication and a collaborative work environment.
    • Manage creative/communications department to support research and programming goals

    Organizational Excellence and Operational Efficiency (25% of time)

    • Operational Management: Serve as the point of contact for all staff and contractors (except Executive Assistant and CEO) and manager of all day-to-day operations. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between teams, ensuring that all departments are aligned with organizational goals.
    • Act as the primary liaison between the Executive Director and the staff/contractor team, proactively resolving issues and promoting a unified organizational vision.
    • Monitor and Optimize: Regularly review system performance against organizational goals, making data-driven decisions to refine and optimize processes. Implement best practices for project management, leveraging technology to enhance productivity and collaboration across teams. Assess current operations to identify inefficiencies and opportunities, ensuring systems are scalable, cost-effective, and supportive of Nurturely’s mission.
    • Evaluation and Adaptation: Implement a framework for monitoring progress towards strategic goals, using key performance indicators (KPIs) and regular reviews. Be prepared to adapt strategies in response to changing circumstances or new opportunities, ensuring Nurturely remains at the forefront of its field.
    • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate bottlenecks. Implement best practices in operations management, including the use of project management tools and methodologies.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • In addition to the following desired qualifications, Nurturely also values all types of lived experience and community-based apprenticeships:
    • Masters in business or healthcare administration, or PhD in public health, psychology, anthropology, sociology, or related field. A background in perinatal health is a bonus but not required
    • Demonstrated excellence and comfort with managing the implementation of nonprofit fundraising, research, and communications strategies
    • Experience and evidence of success in developing teams and organizational departments from scratch
    • Strong organizational, schedule management, project management, and problem-solving skills with impeccable multi-tasking abilities
    • Awareness of research grant mechanisms (including NIH)
    • Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to equity and advocacy
    • High proficiency in Airtable
    • Basic proficiency in GSuite, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Quickbooks with an ability to learn more advanced skills in organization-specific tools and software
    • Exceptional communication skills (oral/written English), bilingual/trilingual is a bonus
    • Experience as a Deputy Director, Chief of Staff, Chief Operating Officer, or Operations Director at a fast-paced, equity-centered organization
