    The Alliance for Tompotika Conservation ("AlTo") (www.tompotika.org) is a small international community-based non-profit conservation partnership dedicated to healing the broken relationship between humans and the rest of nature, starting in one very special place: the Tompotika peninsula of Sulawesi, Indonesia. AlTo runs field, outreach, community support, and research programs to help people and nature heal one another. AlTo has offices in the USA and Sulawesi, with the US office taking the lead on organizational and financial matters, fundraising, and international communications.

    The Office and Communications Manager will be responsible for ensuring that AlTo’s US office and overall organizational functions run smoothly. S/he will be well organized, reliable, and attentive to detail, with excellent social skills and sensitivity to working cross-culturally and with people from diverse backgrounds. S/he will be skilled in managing systems and projects, and a thoughtful and enthusiastic communicator, advocating for AlTo's work within and beyond the 14 countries where we currently have supporters. The Office and Communications Manager will work independently and as part of a small team.

    This part-time position will be based at AlTo's US office on Vashon Island, Washington. In-person attendance at the AlTo office on Vashon Island will be required at least 3 days a week. This position is not suitable for a remote worker.

    Duties:

    • Manage donations: process gifts, update and maintain donor database, analyze results, send donor thank-you letters and communications
    • Assist with financial accounting: tracking and coding of expenditures and income; preparing grant budgets and expenditure reports
    • Manage organizational matters: registrations, insurance, procurement, online accounts, bill payment
    • Create and send communications: compose letters and e-mails, select photos, design layouts, send mass e-mails
    • Organizational development and outreach: preparing AlTo’s Annual Report, writing and reporting on grants, communicating with donors, designing and executing fundraising projects and events, new donor search
    • Update and maintain AlTo’s website with new material and photos
    • A wide variety of special projects as assigned.

    Skills & Qualifications: The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to nature and advancing AlTo’s conservation mission, coupled with the skills to help our team and organization function smoothly.     The following attributes are required:

    • College degree (BA/BS), or equivalent work experience
    • Outstanding communication skills in English (written, verbal)
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database management, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with InDesign, Photoshop, and/or FileMaker a plus
    • Comfort and proficiency in working with numbers, including ability to perform basic analyses using Excel
    • Ability to track and meet deadlines, attend to detail, and refine work to a high standard
    • Strong team orientation, ability to provide and accept feedback
    • High personal integrity, flexibility, discipline, and emotional intelligence

    The following attributes will strengthen your application:

    • Art/Design skills, such as drawing, graphics, layout
    • GIS (Geographic Information Systems) skills
    • Statistics and data analysis (using R)
    • Knowledge or experience working with non-profit organizations and/or fundraising
    • Knowledge or experience living or working internationally or cross-culturally

    Contract Details:

    • This is a part-time, salaried, non-exempt position; 20-25 hrs/week. Supervisor: AlTo Director. Work will take place at AlTo’s office on Vashon Island at least 3 days/week.
    • $28-$32/hr depending on qualifications.
    • Benefits include medical and dental insurance, retirement contributions, and paid time off, in accordance with hours worked.
