    TITLE: Research Analyst

    STATUS: Exempt

    REPORTS TO: Director, Data Aggregation and Analysis

    Improving Health Care for Every New Yorker United Hospital Fund (UHF) is dedicated to creating an effective and equitable healthcare system for all New Yorkers. As an independent nonprofit, we analyze public policy, unite diverse stakeholders, and support innovative programs to improve health and healthcare. Our mission includes breaking down barriers in health policy and delivery to ensure equitable health opportunities. UHF’s emerging new line of work, Health Equity Regional Organization (HERO), works to achieve this vision by bridging and advancing quality and equity and supporting the delivery of health-related social needs (HRSN) screening and services.

    Our work focuses on:

    • Enhancing care for over 7 million Medicaid members in New York.
    • Bridging quality and equity in Medicaid programs.
    • Supporting health-related social needs (HRSN) services to address barriers to care.

    About the Role:

    • We are seeking multiple highly motivated Research Analysts to join our team and leverage data-driven insights to enhance Medicaid program effectiveness. In this role, you will translate complex data into user-friendly visualizations, guiding informed decision-making. This role involves conducting analyses aligned with established analytic frameworks, transforming findings into audience-friendly visuals, and identifying gaps in physical, behavioral, and HRSN service delivery.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop Data Expertise: Develop deep knowledge of diverse data sources, including Medicaid claims, HRSN screening/assessment/referral data, quality measures, provider networks, vital statistics, and population-level survey data.
    • Conduct Data Analysis: Aggregate and analyze data within analytic frameworks to assess healthcare quality, equity outcomes, and disparities in physical, behavioral, and HRSN service delivery.
    • Data Visualization & Communication: Create Tableau dashboards and detailed narratives, ensuring data is presented effectively for various audiences, including internal teams, key stakeholders, and the public.
    • External Collaboration: Work closely with data hosts and research partners to efficiently conduct analyses while ensuring compliance with data privacy and security protocols.
    • Internal Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams to support regional needs assessments, value-based payment development, and effective data dissemination strategies.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in healthcare research and data analytics.
    • Health Data Expertise: Strong understanding of health data sources and analytical techniques.
    • Technical Proficiency: Experience working with large datasets and cloud-based platforms using tools such as SAS, SQL, R, or Python.
    • Data Visualization Skills: Proficiency in Tableau or other data visualization tools.
    • Data Security Knowledge: Experience adhering to complex data security protocols.
    • Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to convey insight effectively to various audiences.
    • Analytical Insight: Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
    • Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Educational Background: Master’s degree in data science, health informatics, public health, public policy, public administration, or a related field (equivalent professional or lived experience may be considered in place of a degree).

    Salary Range: $65,000 – $100,000 - Candidates with significant relevant experience may be considered for senior-level roles and compensation.

    • This position is externally funded and continued employment is contingent upon the ongoing availability of that funding. It is anticipated to continue through at least

    March 31, 2027.
