    Wyoming Donor Alliance (Non-Profit)

    Executive Director Job Description

    WHO WE ARE:

The Wyoming Donor Alliance (WDA) is a network of visionaries investing in the people and movements that will build Wyoming’s future. Our non-profit aim's to cultivate a base of informed and engaged major donors who make thoughtful investments in Wyoming and are motivated to elect leadership that reflects the needs and priorities of its people.

WDA acts as the funding mechanism for statewide, on-the-ground organizing and advocacy work conducted by our 501(c)(3) Partner Table, Wyoming Civic Engagement Network and our 501(c)(4) Partner Table, Wyoming Voter Network. Our partner tables build momentous political engagement beyond one election cycle or one issue. With sustained civic engagement, we can win on the issues Wyomingites care about most: healthcare, education, conservation, and a fair democracy.

We believe that real change takes time, collaboration, and focused investment. Alongside our partner organizations, WDA identifies the challenges facing Wyoming’s grassroots organizations and focuses on building out the long-term infrastructure the community needs to thrive. We are the only organization in Wyoming that uses strategic philanthropy to advance grassroots organizing infrastructure.

The Executive Director is a full-time position that reports to the WDA Board of Directors. This position is focused on growing and stewarding the donor community to ensure we are working from a holistic plan to activate, engage, educate and include more Wyoming citizens in their democracy.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Maintain deep relationships with donors through individual meetings, events, group presentations, regular communications, donor-exclusive briefings, and other stewardship activities.
    • Create and implement an effective fundraising plan. (The Executive Director will largely be responsible for stewarding and raising major donor funds, but will on occasion assist with grant fundraising).
    • Ensure effective systems by managing all administrative and CRM
    • Meet fundraising goals of 15% increase per year.

    General administration (30%):

    • Manages and oversees all contracts and contractors, including the current Senior Strategy Advisor.
    • Hold regular meetings with the WDA Board of Directors, expand and train new board members, and oversee long-term strategy.
    • Ensure legal and financial compliance for both state and federal regulations.
    • Develop and implement a yearly budget.
    • Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational objectives.
    • Serve as the primary liaison to the Committee on States, the national network of state based donor alliances.
    • Champion equity in our work. Prioritize equity in decisions about our time, budget and partnerships.

THE TYPE OF LEADER WE HOPE TO WORK WITH:

    • A person who is ready to engage with state-specific political issues, to leverage their relationships with political leaders across the state, and who is committed to continuous learning and collaboration within Wyoming's political landscape.
    • Someone who enjoys engaging in courageous conversations with those who hold power or wish to build power for the communities we invest in.
    • An excellent communicator and writer with experience as a spokesperson who can tailor messages to different audiences.
    • Understanding of and commitment to racial justice and social change.
    • An entrepreneurial leader who is willing to take calculated risks and lean into building deep and lasting relationships and partnerships with donors, other nonprofits and political leaders.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant fundraising experience.
    • Demonstrated success in major donor fundraising.

    • Commitment to racial justice and social change with the ability to facilitate and educate donors on why a race forward and inclusive strategy is paramount to our framework for winning over time.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This position is remote within Wyoming or within the greater Jackson, Wyoming area. It is a full-time, 35 hour/week salaried role with flexible hours, and a creative work

environment. At WDA, we expect people to have a life outside of work—balance is very important. Most of our donors live in the Jackson area and our Executive Director should plan on spending significant time in that region. Additionally, we would like to expand our donor pool across the state, so travel will be required and compensated for.
