    Job Summary

    The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate accounting records and reports for the agency. This includes public and private financial reports meeting all agency and public funder requirements, agency general ledgers, and all routinely completed financial reports. The Senior Manager supervises the Business Manager and oversees all accounting and IT functions for the agency. This position manages the government contracts to ensure accurate billing, complete funding use and successful audits.

    Responsibilities:

    Accounting Functions

    • Review GL on at least monthly a basis and produce reports as required
    • Reconciles bank accounts monthly
    • Makes bank deposits as needed
    • Manages grant contracts to ensure accurate initial budgets, timely and accurate submissions, and usage of all funds.
    • Approves bi-weekly payroll
    • Manages Payroll reporting requirements, including monthly and end-of-year reporting to the IRS and staff
    • Prepares annual 401k reporting
    • Prepares financial reports for grants
    • Prepares financial reports for the Property Development team, including property development consultants and construction consultants, as needed.
    • Manages and oversees government and organizational audits
    • Facilitates quarterly cash audits
    • Manages monthly financial reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Properties
    • Manages petty cash, insures monthly reconciliation
    • Manages annual budget development and tracking of departmental budgets
    • Maintains current knowledge of current nonprofit accounting software at the agency

    IT Functions

    • Manage IT functions of the agency by overseeing relationship with external IT and phone vendors, evaluating IT contracts, and obtaining bids.
    • Oversee the work of the Business Manager to ensure adequate equipment tracking, replacement ordering, and set-up of computers and phones.

    Other

    • Develops and supervises assigned staff, including interviewing applicants, managing job performance, counseling and coaching, development and training, completing performance evaluations and other personnel actions in accordance with agency policies.

    • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining person networks; participating in professional organizations
    • Performs general tasks and other duties assigned by supervisor

    Attendance at Required Meetings

    • All Staff meetings
    • Supervision Meetings (weekly)
    • Finance Committee Meetings (quarterly)
    • Investment Committee Meetings (6x per year)
    • Board Meetings (1-2x per year, as needed)

    Attendance Required at Events

    • Annual Winter Walk
    • 2-3 events annually (typically an evening or Saturday, a work assignment may be given)

    Qualifications:

    Education

    • B.S. Accounting or related field required. Working knowledge of current accounting software preferable.
    • CPA preferred or working towards licensure.

    Job Experience

    • 5+ years progressive experience in financial management, preferably in a comparable organization which utilizes public grants.
    • 2+ years supervisory experience preferred
    • Previous IT management experience preferred, including managing relationships with external IT vendors

    Health and Safety Requirements/Instructions:

    • Employees are advised on OSHA standards through required signage and administrative updates as compliant with federal law.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $70,214.00 - $85,817.00 per year
