    The National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA) is a membership organization representing providers and administrators committed to helping people get the family planning education and care they need to make the best choices for themselves and their loved ones. NFPRHA works to enhance the ability of thousands of nurse practitioners, doctors, and other health professionals to provide high-quality family planning care through training and advocacy.

    WHAT IS THE POSITION

    The Director of Development is a co-director position that plays a critical role in the organization. This individual will collaborate with the President & CEO by managing and directing the fundraising efforts of the organization and developing and cultivating relationships with stakeholders. The development director will implement the strategies outlined by the Board and management team to successfully identify new funding sources, thereby creating a fundraising pipeline to maintain the stability of NFPRHA. This role also works in tandem with the Finance and Operations team and will partner with them to develop budgets, various development charts and benchmarks, and funding proposals and reports.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Research and identify new business opportunities, manage existing partnerships, and prepare proposals, reports and collaborate on proposal budgets.
    • Create solicitation materials to ensure a continuous pipeline of foundation, corporate, individual, and other funding prospects.
    • Collaborate with the CEO & President, and other leadership staff on preparing grant request strategies that match NFPRHA’s programmatic and operational needs.
    • Collaborate with and provide backup to development colleagues.
    • Collaborate with the finance staff to manage and track the organization’s grants and other revenue streams against Board-approved budgets.
    • Communicate with donors and staff about NFPRHA’s strategies, tactics and goals.
    • Collaborate with the finance staff and legal consultants to prepare annual state charitable registration reports.
    • Collaborate with the Content & Member Services Team to manage the annual fundraising event, including stewardship of current and prospective exhibitors and sponsors, advertisement opportunities, venue location, vendor management, and other benefits.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • A minimum of five years of experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve outcomes.
    • Experience with corporate or industry partnerships and/or sponsorship.
    • Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-up skills.
    • Experience handling and cultivating relationships with program officers.
    • Hands-on experience with enterprise fundraising/donor management software and tools.
    • Ability to be creative with attention to detail and proven ability to work with an entrepreneurial spirit.
    • Demonstrated history of a service mentality to donors and association membership.
    • Commitment to continuous learning and development; keeping pace with the philanthropic environment and best practices.
