EmpowHer Academy Instructor – Part Time
Program Summary
As advocates for gender and racial justice, EmpowHer Institute offers a safe, inclusive, andsupportive space for girls to thrive. We serve to combat the systemic inequities girls of color faceand advance economic equity. Our programs aims to empower teen girls by providing them withthe resources and skills to navigate the systemic barriers women of color often face in school andthe workplace and break generational cycles of poverty.
EmpowHer Institute partners with 13 Title I middle and high schools in marginalized communitiesto deliver our programs to 1000+ girls and non-binary youth annually. Our in-school academies arefully integrated into the school day as a gender- responsive enrichment class for 7 – 12 graders at our partner school sites and we also offer a Saturday academy for interested high schoolers who do not attend a partnering school. The class is comprised of five primarycomponents: (1) social and emotional learning (SEL) centric curriculum; (2) mentorship from professional women, (3) social justice awareness and advocacy; (4) workforce development; (5) field trips and immersive learning programs. This program aims to empower teen girls by giving them the tools they need to cope with challenges, overcome trauma, engage in school, and remain on track to graduate. The academies provides a safe space where girls share experiences, build relationships and learn to make informeddecisions.
Position Overview
EmpowHer Institute has an exciting opportunity for an individual who have a dynamic personality and demonstrated passion for serving youth in marginalized communities. Weare seeking a part-time Academy Instructor for our middle and high school and academyprograms. Academy Instructors will be responsible for facilitating our program curricula tocohorts of 15-20 girls, at multiple sites. Additionally, Academy Instructors will build and
maintain relationships with key stakeholders - school administrators, students, parents andmentors.

Level of Language Proficiency
English required. Bilingual (Spanish and English) desirable, but not required.
