    Job Overview:

    • Work Schedule: 35 hours per week, regular, full time. Shifts available 7 days a week:
      • 9:30am - 5:30pm, 5:30pm - 1:30am, 1:30am - 9:30am
    • Relief Post: This position requires your flexibility and dependability to cover a second shift in the instance of a call out or no show (face-to-face relief).
    • Pay: Annualized salary $45,000, plus benefits
    • Location: Fully onsite in the Lower East Side

    Program Overview:

    The Third Street Women’s Residence is a critical part of this network, providing transitional shelter and supportive services to 79 homeless women with mental illness concerns who are in need of permanent housing. The staff provides an array of social and housing placement services, working with the residents to enhance and develop life management skills, as well as to manage their mental health conditions. When needed, residents are referred to community-based organizations.

    Job Summary:

    The Shift Supervisor is a vital, front-line function in the shelter setting as they observe, assist and interact with clients. Responsible for providing a client centered and trauma informed approach to after-hours program management. The Shift Superisors are mental health employees who provide hands-on care to individuals with varying degrees of mental illnesses, substance use and/or developmental disabilities. The shift supervisor oversees the operational team and assesses client’s needs to ensure that clients receive services that meet regulatory and agency standards.

    Required Qualifications:

    • At least 3 years of relevant experience working in a residential setting
    • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid and Fire Conductor or Fire Safety and Alarm Systems (F80) licensure within the first 3 months of employment
    • Proven ability to provide crisis intervention and problem solve in a high stress environment
    • Experience providing client care with a trauma informed approach to ensure resident safety
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree
    • High preference for candidates with experience in shelter/transitional and supportive housing
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
    • Experience in database navigation (CARES/AWARDS) strongly preferred
    • Security license preferred

    Responsibilities:

    • Train, conduct performance evaluation and supervise staff
    • Screen and interview clients; complete application for intake services
    • Collect basic data and obtain additional information from other agencies
    • Manage a facility of homeless clients with mental health and/or substance abuse issues
    • Conduct client assessments and prepare reports concerning change in conditions
    • Provide appropriate crisis intervention
    • Securing safety within the facility; direct fire drills as scheduled
    • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports
    • Maintain a cooperative relationship among the program units by communicating information, responding to request, building rapport and participating in team problem-solving methods
    • Develop practical service plans for clients
    • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss client cases
    • Document and follow-up on incident reports
    • Maintain client data and census logs and ensure records are up-to-date
    • Provide facility walk through such as make rounds in the facility to be in compliance with the Fire Coordinator and Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) standards
    • Maintain daily sign-in food log of resident meals
    • Prepare and maintain accurate expenditure records
    • Assist Client Care Worker/Case Aide and kitchen personnel as needed
    • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor

    Essential Physical Job Functions:

    • Must be able to stand for long periods and walk up the stair
    • Must be vaccinated against COVID-19
    • Must be able to work onsite in the Lower East Side
